Wooo! Hooo! Just took her for her first run!
Hi all,
I finally got my 82 back on the road and while she still needs to have a couple of things done to her still she ran great. Man, what an adventure this has been but she is going and I am happier then a pig in s%!t!
Quick question for everyone out there. What is the average idle speed for the engine. I have managed to get her to run at about 900 to 1000 but she seems to be fighting at that speed. I realize that she hasn't been run in quite a while, three years to be exact, but I thought it should run a little smoother. At least, that's the way I remember her running. Does the fact that I have headers and no emissions make a difference as to the idle speed I should be setting it up at?
Screamin with glee boys and girls!!!!!!

No not a complete tune as of yet. But she is close, I have been playing with her for a while now and at about 1100 she is fairly smooth. I thought I had it at about the right the idle but wasn't sure.
Thanks for the info. I guess it's time for a tune!

Congrats!
My 12a purrrrs like a kitten between 600 and 750 rpm. Full tune up is probably in order. Then follow the Haynes manual for adjusting the idle and mixture screws. It'll take a good 1/2 hour to 45 minutes but it's well worth the time. Oh and check all your vac hoses first! Especially that damned anti-afterburn hose. Good luck!
