Wiring question
my ignition switch is currently shot on my 1980 rx-7 ls and I am thinking about putting in a push button system (with the button either where you would normally put the key, or in the empty space from removing the stock radio). I have seen several setups searching the forum that are set up to put the key in acc then hit the button for security, which would be a waste of time where I live. I was wondering what wires I would need to connect to the switch (possibly 2 buttons if i can not figure out how to go from acc-on-start with one) I had the wiring diagram book printed out from the pdf, but can not understand it as well as I would like.
so far have been looking at the s2000 button, but if anyone has had good experience with another type, am open to suggestions, thanks for any help.

Did one on my car. Very basic way, is to bring a wire from the + side of the battery,
to a push button switch ( can get them for like $5 at advance auto) then from the
switch to the starter solenoid. This will make the button ALWAYS work, even with no
key.
Another way, you could tie a relay (or draw power from, but not too sure on it) in to
the positive of the coil. This will make it to where the button would work only when
the key is on.

It will just crank the car. The key will need to be in the on position or a switch be wired in for ignition and fuel.... I had a GS-T eclipse that I put a pushbutton where the cig lighter went

If you want a push button that will eliminate the key completely, and both turn on the ignition and accessories power and start the car when you press it, and then turn off everything when you press it again, you'll need some intermediary logic to handle the separate switching. You could do it with a few relays, but it would defeat any security you'd have from someone busting out a window and just driving away.
You'll also have to permanently defeat the column lock, though that's not hard.
