Wiring question on an 84 SE

Does anybody have a wiring schematic for the 84 SE? I have no power at the rear hatch light switch. My haynes manual does not seem to show the rear hatch light in its diagrams. Where does its power come from, straight from the fuse block or through another location? No fuses are blown and the front dome light is functional as well as the map lights.

Thanks

I had the same problem, turns out it wasn't properly grounded. So I added a short ground wire and it works fine. good luck

I'm working there because I'm trying to get a 12 volt "always on" source for an aftermarket power ant. I'm using a test light so the power is definitely off. I can trace the old wiring, but some of the trim is less than flexible after 18 years so I would prefer to go right to the source.

The source is the same as the dome light. But the 12v does not go to the switch and then the bulb, it goes to the bulb (blue/yellow wire) and then the switch grounds the other side of the bulb.
If the bulb is burnt, you will not have 12v at the switch. If you do not have voltage on the blue/yellow wire at the bulb and you're dome light works, it would be a bad connection at one of the connectors in the harness. But I suspect you checked the switch only and in fact have 12v at the (dead) bulb. If you do not have 12v at the bulb you would have to lift the carpet and check the harness connectors.

You sure the switch isnt bad, its got a mind of it own, well my 85 did. I sprayed WD 40 in it back and forth several times and it eventually worked..

I was checking for voltage at each of the wires that connect to the switch, so the swith is not suspect at this point. I am using the info from the page Directfreak listed, and all was going well until I hit this snag. (By the way I caught the radio shack unit on clearance for $19.95.) Oh well, I used to do dealer alarm and sunroof installs so I know how to trace things out.

Thanks
