Winter Storage

well, here in OH, all i usually do is make sure the 7 is indoors and covered. i disconnect both battery cables and make sure all fluids are clean and topped off. i also make sure that the car is started once a month and if time allows, moved back and forth. some people will raise the car, remove the wheels, and leave the car on jack stands to avoid flat spotting the tires... you may want to add stabil to the gas to make sure the gas does not go bad. 50 degrees here in OH is almost like a summer day! i had the sunroof open in the Camry today and it was in the low 50's!

(3)Before I park it I also change the oil, but leave the filter and change it AND the oil when I get it back out. (4)Make sure fuel tank is full and treated with stabil or something, too.
(5)Disconnect ignition and fuel pump, remove plugs, get all gas out of the engine by turning it over a while. Install some old plugs(don't want to crub good ones up with all the oil in there next time you start it) after (6)spraying Pennzoil marine fogging oil into the plug holes alternating between spraying and hand turning engine over. Or I guess you could spray it or add another kind or oil through the carb. (7)I remove my battery and keep it indoors, (8)rubber band plastic baggies over exhaust ends and over intake. (9)I use 4 1 lb sta-dri dessicant pouches and place them or hang them inside the car to maintain low relative humidity inside. (10)I also place paper plates everywhere and shave a bunch of original Irish Spring soap bars onto them to keep rodents out. I've been told they hate it, don't know for sure, but I've never had any rodents move in during storage, so I'll keep doing it. Plus, it makes your car smell nice next spring! I also put them(shavings) in the engine compartment, too. (11)Obviously use a car cover or at least some sheets or something on the outside. (12)Maybe every once in while I'll turn the engine over by hand for a while to keep inside nice and lubed during it's sleep. If you do this, remember to remove the plastic baggies from intake and exhaust and replace afterwards!
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head, it sounds like alot, but really doesn't take too long to do. Hope this helps you out.

x2 with what sevens4me said but instead of using messy soap shaving just throw a bunch of dryer sheets everywhere in and around the car, rodents will not go near dryer sheets(learned that with my boat) and use stabil in the gas, nothing is worse than varneshed gas in the spring!!

You don't have winters in southern Cali. I used to live in Fremont and can't remember a single snow fall. Only once do I remember a frost, and that was just one day out of the whole year! Of course I was in 1st grade and you're not too with it yet by then. I do remember a few hot days though.

Hmmm, I've never done anything more than change the oil, toss stabil in and fuel it to the top, over inflate the tires a bit, park it over a tarp, disconnect battery, and cover at my indoor location. Of course I've lost my clutch slave like 3yrs in a row now also, but I think that's more due to poor quality porous metal than anything (new master and slave on it now with castrol lma). It's not near me so I don't turn it on randomly or rock it at all, just sits there. Turns over 2nd crank every year for going on ten now and never had a flat spot on a tire.
