Windshield Replacement Cost

I've called around locally and the best price I can find on a replacement windshield is $199 installed. Is that a decent price?

$199 with the windshield company bearing all liability for damaging parts during install plus redoing it if it's sealed improperly, as well as bearing insurance liability if it pops out wrong during an accident (or just pops out) etc. etc. seems worth it.

Most car insurance companies prefer structural work is performed by a licensed tech and/or shop, and in a unibody car the windshield becomes a structural piece, contributing to the torsional rigidity of the unit.

Agreed , except for the windshield being a structural part of the car. You ever took a windshield out and just applied a little pressure to it? SNAP...

4 things you would need to remove it. your buddy, a razor blade, small drill bit and a guitar string. Remove the clips, and cut as much black tar as you can. Drill a small hole in the weather strip, then slide the guitar string from inside of the car to outside. At both ends of the string, tie it to a piece of wood or something that you can use as a handle. Then use it like a saw to cut the remaining black tar.

I paid $120 for mine installed. The guy came to my house and had it swapped out in less than a half hour.

im taking my windshield out and replacing it with pexiglass or some lightweight material and then i am going to bolt it onto the frame instead of glueing it, weight reduction and easy removal and install if i need to do it fast and efficiently, prolly not what u want to do cause i dont think pexiglass would be as great on a daily driver although ive heard some use it and it works great. good luck whatever ya do
