Question Will I fit in a FB?

Hey guys I'm kinda new around here. Some of you might have seen my Porsche 944 Turbo for sale in the classifieds forum. I'm going back to school and would like to sell the p-car so I can pick up a 84-85 GSL-SE.

Anyway, I'm 6'4" and 175 lbs. Am I even gonna fit in the cockpit of one of these 1st gen rexes? The 944 didn't have a tilt steering wheel, but I still fit fine. Hopefully I am not too big.

I fit easily and I'm a hair taller than you. The tricky part is fitting with a helmet... still possible, just have to lean back a little more.

The SAs have more headroom than the '84-85, because they have a paper-thin vinyl headliner instead of a big thick cardboard/felt one, and the seats sit lower too. They also have smaller steering wheels for more room for your knee between the steering wheel and the door panel. Just something to keep in mind. But again I fit in my '85 just fine I would like to move the steering wheel back a few inches, I prefer to have it fairly close (someone told me this is NASCAR-style) for more leverage holding myself up in the seat.

ditto on the seat hieght, I had to put a T2 seat in mine to get comfortable and to quit ducking my head to see under the rear view.

Along the same lines - A Glass top gives you more headroom.

For those of us that sit upright in the seat the type of sunroof doesn't matter - your head hits the surrounding part of the roof long before it hits the sunroof.

FB's don't have the e-brake to the left of the drivers seat like 944s do right? Everytime I get out of that thing I catch my right pant leg on it and almost bust my face on the pavement.

6'4" , 36" inseam, no problems. Take out the dead pedal if you don't like it. Your right knee will hit the e brake handle. I put foam pipe insulation on mine. When you get in, sit your butt down on the seat and then rotate in. If you try to step in its a lot harder.

The e-brake is on the left side of the center console, far back enough that it doesn't rub your right knee when driving.

Man I couldn't LIVE without the dead pedal Ya need that to brace yourself into the seat during, ah, "emergency maneuvers". Yeah that's it

I fit fine in my FB. The only complaint I have is getting in and out of it can be a pain.

6'2", 31" inseam.. I have the seat all the way back.

No problems, except on long trips.. I need to stop every couple of hours to stretch my legs.. also the emergency-brake lever bothers my right leg (after a couple of hours), and getting out for a walk is good for that. I frequently take long trips of 5 - 6 hours, and taking 2 or 3 rest stops is a good idea anyway, eh!

etherhuffer - 36" inseams?.. that's gotta be a record!

For the record, most of my cousins are taller! Norwegian genetics. It is funny, but I notice lots of tall folks drive 7's and MR 2 for the leg room. I had to look at the Audi A4 for legroom. Its a big problem if you drive much. I stare directly at the top of the window frame in most convertibles! Crap!
