wieght reduction on street car
ok, ive done a search, and frankly there is not a good many of how too's or examples of what people have done to make thier fbs lighter, this is what i want to create,
ill list what ive done so far,and what i plan to do, and you all can add to the list
since this will be a mainly track car, i dont have a front bumper, the front plastic is held on seperately,
i have a 6pt chromoly cage, which only added about 50 lbs, so that doesnt count for much,
i plan to lighten or remove the rear bumper,
scrape all the sound dampener stuff from the floor
ive lightened the doors by cutting out the beam on the inside,
rats nest removed
plan on doing fc front steering swap ie undercarriage
plan to remove sunroof
no ac, no power steering, no interior
plans for lexan windows, in the rear
if there is anything obvious i am mission please fill in gaps thats what the post is for,
it would be good if you had listed wieght redux you have done, then list how much wieght you saved, but if not thats fine,
lets find some non structural stuff that can be removed safely, ie streetable but mainly track use... any imput helpful

Rotary Freak
Cut off your left leg and use a broom stick to work the clutch. 30-50lbs
Remove one of the rotors?
you don't REALLY need rear brakes.
Cut some spokes outta your wheels.
Use a lawnmower battery (this one really works)
Run less oil.
fuel cell. (this one works also)
Hair cut.
Glad I couldn't help,

More like 60 lbs here.
Get an auto tranny, use the choke cable as your throttle, remove all pedals and levers, install a 1 7/8" trailer ball in the center of your seat bottom, cut off both legs. 60-120 pounds.
Remove the sterring wheel outer ring and all "spokes" but one. Install a ball swivel. Cut off your left arm. 15 to 40 pounds ( depending on both how many years you've been driving a 7 without power steering AND whether you're married or not ).

Transversely mount the 12A, put 4x110 hole pattern in your flywheel to direct drive your panasports.
Don't worry about steering. Just drift wherever you want to go.

Ok, here`s a serious one. Remove dashboard, replace it with a basic plate. You only really need a few meters anyway, since you will be mostly on track.
Why just change the rear windows? Go full out lexan! Replace fenders with fibreglass!
For rigidity, weld that sunroof up!
Remove all original exhaust, go straight pipe. (Get cotton for ears)
Mine is currently down to 1020 kg, with a full tank!

fill tires with helium. shave heavy tread off tires. remove glass replace with plastic wrap.
remove paint, replace with magic marker. move fuel cell next to engine, save on heavy fuel line.
like they say, move engine to rear, remove tranny and driveshaft. have fuel pump pour fuel
directly into engine, no carb less weight.

You guys are a pisser. Seriously though, the dash is quite heavy. And do a search, theres a more serious thread around here on this. Ah, one more freebie, a Miata rear pumpkin (ts aluminum).

replace your side windows with really thin lexan and glue them into place with epoxy , remove window regulator assembly.
remove headlight motors and lock headlights in up position if your sanctioning body requires operable lights, if not gut all the crap there and tack weld the lids shut in place
replace door skins with fiberglass skins, change fenders, hood and nose panel out with fiberglass ones
if you only race in fair weather romove windshield wipers etc, unless sanctioning body requires.
replace rear hatch with lexan
