Not sure how I got here Im not RX-Jesus,but Hi...Im Steve and Ill cover a few things for you.
The red is Dupont primary red #916,its not any car manufacturer's color. It has little yellow and more violet so the reflect is nice and deep red.The black is Mercedes toner, the blackest you can get.
The wheels will be pushed out after I get some spacers.I cant go too far out back because FB rearends dont camber in lke FC IRS.The stock rear fenders are still lurking in there.Any taller tires with 17s and the front struts would hit.Plus itd lift the car too much,I cant lower it anymore because of the "on power" squat will make my big driveshaft hit the tunnel.Every mod I did on this car is deliberate, nothing is show only. Its my daily driver so it has to be functional and practical(as can be expected)
Finding 9" wide wheels with deep offsets is tough when you need 4 lug.All the 15-20MM offsets are for five lug "big" cars like Supras. My tires are 245 and 225,which is plenty wide for a tiny little 1st gen.No point going bigger since I dont have power steering, and some tire spin in 1st and 2nd is good for keeping the stock SE rearend alive.
The front brakes are Selectmaz 12" rotors with TII calipers. And I have a TO4B hybrid, not a stock S5 turbo. Its run PERFECTLY for 3 years,no need for a Haltech, although it would be nice.20MPG highway,8 in town.In its current state it is CA smog legal 100%(smogs as a 90 RX-7. I stay on top of the tuneup and typical Mazda EFI quirks so theres really no running issues like can happen with 15 year old TPS,AFM and other sensors.

that is an awesome car. i love the hood and the wing. i usually don't like wings on fb's but i think that one matches the car very well. i agree the rims need to be wider. some manly deep dish wheels that aren't white would look very nice.

Yea,the wing was to tough to get,Mariah hadent made one in a long time.In the end they had an outside fiberglass guy make it.Its the GTU wing that was banned in 84 cause it worked too good.Mandeville and others used it.

The wheels were a comprimise.Like I said, finding 9" wide wheels with rwd offsets AND 4 lug isnt easy. The Advans were the closest.I wanted silver, but they wouldnt make em in anything but white or gold.As it was, it took 6 weeks to get them special ordered from Japan. They are very light, and about the most popular wheel in the Japanese street and race scene.I could have got some cobby hotrod style polished wheels to get some dish, but I wanted something that looked modern and improved brake cooling. The white is actually growing on me and I think Ill hold off powdercoating them. Some 15mm spacers to push em out,and Ill be set
Thanks for the compliments guys.Heres a few fresh ones today.....

You know,6 months ago I would have agreed with you on that one!Ive never been a fan of big wings, but theres 2 things that made me choose this one.
First, Ive never seen it on another 1st gen before. And since Mariah said they hadent made one in a long time,Im betting I wont be seeing another for a long time.
Second, its made for the car.Unike a lot of "universal" wings this one is made to fit the rear hatch area cleanly.Back in the 80s when Mandeville and Downing were cleaning up in IMSA GTU,this was the wing they used, until 85 when high wings were banned. It goes with the muscular widebody look and really follows the lines of the old race cars.

I saw one just like this with twin turbo scary **** get a nice set up with wast gates and bleeder valves and you will put low end on a car with all top end makes for a exstreamly fast car carefull of broken motor mounts (iv done this with my mazda 626 GT Turbo witch is way faster than my 85 GSL-SE at the moment anyway)

~Mazdas are unstopable when they run right(rare)

Come on now guys, dont nit pick me to death!
Im getting better tailights soon, finding a set that isnt faded is tough.I tried blacked out lights, but didnt like it.

The Miata headlight kit was about 200 plus 20 bucks to have the covers recut to match FB covers.I spent another 100 on some street legal Pia projectors because the lights Mid Tenn Miata includes are just generic fog lights, that dont have a good(or legal) low beam pattern. And I didnt like them!

The engine bay is fine. The car was black and I wasnt going to pull everything just to paint it red.If the car was originally blue or white or somn',thatd be a different story. The only way to simplify the engine bay is to run a Haltech and strip it down, but that wouldnt be legal.Everything under there is needed to maintain legality.Although it can be a bit of a mess, remember this is a DRIVER,not a SHOW car.
