Smile why do i have to give my rx7 full throttle to start

Hi i just bought a series 3 rx7, 12a bridgeport, and whenever i have to start it, i need to keep my foot flat, opening the throttle right up. Also it doesn't seem to be accelerating as well as it should, this my be tied up with the starting problem. So if anyone could suggest what may be wrong that would be great thanks, im thinking its some sorta fuel problem???

ok bridgeys are fun but ya gotta learn about them.

When you start it try pumping at accelerator once, then turn the key and dont touch the gas... it should burst into life. probably run like a dog until warm but it should hold an idle. Now when its warm the idle should be anywhere between 1200-2000rpm. It should sound rough, but have an even sound to it... there shou8ld be the pulsing brap sound if its tuned right.

When driving the power down low will be crappy but drivable, the power should really hit around 3500-4500rpm and pull hard.

my suggestion to you is:

take out the spark plugs, let us know what they look like (ie black and gungy, snow white etc)
change your fuel filter
check the timing

with the timing, for now just have it set to factory standards, you can advance it later for better performance, but on factory it should run fine.

Any more info on your car?? what carb you running? what plugs? what dizzy??

email me if you need any help deeman111@hotmail.com
