Question why cant we use ZEX on our fb?

From what I know you'll need to run a wet system and I believe that the 50 shot would the safest. There are guys on here running 75 and another guy running 100 but I believe these are ported motors.

you can't use a zex kit due to our old *** closed loop ecu. you'll have to run the NOS brand or an equivenlant.

However a "complete" nos kit will end up costing almost as much a blow-thru turbo system. When you add up all the extras you have to buy, plus the bottle refills are expensive.

I considered all this and just figured to go cosmo in 2 years. My bro is already finishing up his t2 project. and he'll still have more power then a sprayed first gen.

Just some things to concider...
i saw this after searching for zex related threads..

i here alot of good things about this system.. as its easy to install and very safe..

im planning to put 50-75 shot wet zex system on my fb..

is there any complications i will run into?

im running a weber 48ida and putting a full rb exhaust.

will i have to change the fuel pump etc..

regards

Only thing I can contribute is that maybe the Zex isint using quality components. One thing I read is that some low buck N2O systems use valves from soda machines (Co2) to make them cheaper and they dont hold up as well. Try asking about this in one of the tech sections. Theres more guys with experience with it there.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!! I installed a ZEX system on an Integra and it was extreme quality stuff. His problem lies in the concept behind the ZEX. Up until the middle of this year (2003), ZEX only made dry systems. They were designed for EFI cars exclusively. The system tricks the car's box into ramping up the duty cycles of the fuel injectors to get the fuel necessary for a safe burn of the nitrous being injected by the ZEX. That was why you never saw 400HP ZEX systems. No factory EFI car with its factory fuel injectors could hope to inject enough fuel to safely use the amount of nitrous for those kinds of big hits. You need a wet nitrous system where fuel is added by a separate solenoid along with the nitrous solenoid. I believe ZEX has just entered this market with all the solenoids still contained in one box. I don't know that for sure, however, I just know someone has attempted that approach.

It's still possible to run a ZEX old school system, but you'd have to run your Webber's fuel jets constantly on the rich side for the 50 hit. It's the same idea as the tophat ring used by NOS for the Holley carbs. Nitrous only, but small hits only, as well.

I'll keep that in mind when I use the 100 HP jets on the '83's stock 154,000 mile engine next Spring at Kennedale...

ZEX won't work due to the computer not adding additional fuel to the mixture. Second gen computers make air/fuel adjustments, FB computers are closed loop meaning the factory set the spec's and the computer just follows the program given.
