Who owns this Silver FB?
Who owns this Silver FB? Ok, I think I asked this question a while back but can't find the thread and don't think it was ever answered.
This is my dream 1st gen look. Need to know what suspension the car has, the rims size and offset. I love the look of the tires under the fenders.
This car with a 13bt would be sweet!
I want to do this project if I can get his info.
I will be using a 79 SA silver/ black interior.
13b 6 port motor with a Dell 48 on it till I can build the TII motor.
So if you know who owns this car please reply.
Thanks

im pretty sure thats a chop. i have that same car as my background but its not near as low. if you look at the shadows under the car, you can tell its a chop. it is a very sexy car though, even if its not lowered.

There are a few sets of springs still in existance that can lower a car more than the "normal" 1 - 1.5 inches. The lowest car I have seen, was one that camocarl has. He mentioned the springs he had under it once.
I have heard that King (austrailian company) makes springs that will lower a 1st gen about 2", and they still show up occasionally on ebay.
I have an older set of springs, brand unknown (blue, if anyone has any idea), that has my car sitting about 2-2.5 inches under stock height. There isn't a lot of travel left at this height, making for a stiff ride on rough roads (common in Ok).
Getting much lower than that will likely require custom stuff. RB has a kit for lowering the front upper strut mount, but it requires a major commitment, as you have to cut the original upper mounts out.
As for wheels, I have an older set of Ronal 15x7 that have no clearance issues at this height, but I have no clue what the offset is. I'm willing to measure it, but not sure of the exact method.
The pic below is decieving, as the rear looks much higher than it is, must have been on uneven ground at the time.

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for those springs.
As for you offset the next time you take off your wheel look all over the rim. Most manufactures will cast /stamp/ or print it on there some where.
Thanks again

Only markings I have found are: Ronal, West Germany, and a few non-legible words. These rims must have been made just for the early Mazda's, as they aren't even a dual pattern, and use cone seat lug bolts (also with Ronal stamped on them). Perhaps it is has this info listed inside, which I have not seen, as the tires were on the car when I bought it.
I will certainly try to read all the markings, but I have not seen anything that looks like an offset number on them. If all else fails, I will measure the backspacing, and from mounting surface to inner & outer lip.
As for the lowering kit, I think it was RB that has it, as well as a couple other companies.

Kosies
yeah that's a photoshop pic. I don't think an fb would be any fun to drive slammed like that, and fun is the first thing I want out of my car.
the kosie's are 15x7 4x110 from tire rack (don't know the offset). nice light wheels but imo they look better on a silver car, whereas mesh wheels look good on pretty much anything.
nothing fancy on the suspension: eibach prokits, tokico 5-ways, RB front anti-sway bar, and cusco strut brace.
i switch back and forth on the wheels/tires though:

My FB has 1" drop springs and if i look at the shock while the car is sitting on the ground there is only 1" to 3/4" of travel left before the bump stops are hit. My care rides nice at this height but i wouldn't go any lower.

Dang, dusty in here! Achoooo! lol. (you do realize that this thread is over 5 years old, right?)
And whoever it was that said a slammed 1st gen would be no fun, well, I beg to differ... Of course, you have to do it with coilovers if you don't want to destroy the handling of the car, but if done right it will perform better than ever.
