Here's just something I found out from a local man.
The 1972 Opel Manta tail lights fit in there perfectly, you just have to wire them in. I was going to get the set off of him to try it on another FB, but I lost his number.
They would only look good on a black car though, not on lighter colors.

No, it is the early 70s one that I ment. Underneath the body panels the black plastic holders for the lights will fit perfectly.
I might have the year kinda messed up, but he had the lights in his hand and fitted them to wear the FB lights used to be.
I saw it.

When I see some of these cars that I've never seen before, I wonder what kick-*** 7's there are in the world that we haven't seen because the owner doesn't use the intraweb.

Black out painted taillights are just as illegal as the smoked GTO covers you see on IROC's and the such.
If it hinders the light output, its illegal. And yes, there are factory smoked tailights out there, but they meet standards for lumens output, they have too.
The obvious part that usually gets you pulled over is painting over the red reflector in the middle of the light cluster.Factory smoked or not,all cars must have a bright red reflector on each side of the car's rear. They can be seperate from the main tailights, but they have to be there.
We dont have annual or state safety inspections here in CA.You can drive the most illegal, unsafe piece of **** in the world, and itll only get you in trouble if a cop with a burr in his butt decides to pull you over.Usually, they will just use the minor thing as a reason to get you pulled over so they can hope for a greater bust.
Since Im the law abideing type,I never had anything to worry about, and the cop was stuck with just giving me a warning or a ****-ant $20 fix-it ticket for the obstructed rear reflectors. It just got old and annoying.....
