Unless I am mistaken that is the car that Car and Driver editor Don Sherman built in 1980 to explore the performance possibilities of our cars. It was featured in the mag sometime that year.

Those are Recaro LS seats. Because they're a bit out of date, good condition ones will be hard to find.

they're just BBS wheel covers, some versions had a screw on cap that required a huge lug adapter to get the cap off to reveal the nuts.

however i have seen some old Boyd spoke wheels with a single lug design, would hardly call that safe for ZR speed ratings though...

Those are Recaro mesh seats. They were made back in the 80's. Now, they make these...

All you will have to do is find the oldschool headrest and replace it with that one if it's removable.

Here is a thread I found in a VW site that talks about these seats, hope it helps at all.

Happy Hunting.

i've always found that brand name to be funny and true. although i hear its a great brand (never had any myself) you pay the price.

from the sounds they must be italian. But in spanish, the world "caro" means "expensive" and "re" it's a term put in front of words to give the meaning of "really/very/extremely" therefore in spanish the name "recaro" means "very expensive"

yep! i have that article. they tested an 81 GSL, that car (which don Sherman still owns) and the RB GTU car, so its pretty good reading!

January 1981 car and driver.

the 6 car comparison test mentioned is in the april 1979 C&D, its SA22C vs Fiat spider, Alfa spider, a 924, and a couple of porkers, a 70's vette, and a 280zx...

lol! the really funny part is that since these seats are german, the seat bottom is a piece of wood with a foam pad, on the model we're talking about. my brother has a set in his VW....
