Whats up with this fuse box ?
I just bought an 81 rx7 and am trying to figure out what all the fuses are for. The fuse box doesnt look like the one pictured in the 79-85 haynes manual i got. It looks like the one pictured here
on page 13:
Here is what mine looks like:
The amps in the picture dont really match what i have, so im assuming that the newer block is hooked up to the older wiring... So my question is, how would i know what fuses are hooked up to what systems? I was going to start things up and then start pulling the fuses out one by one to figure it out, but i dont know what systems are supposed to have fuses, and one of them keeps blowing as soon as i put it in, so that wouldnt help there anyway. Would they be grouped like the diagram in my manual or this newer one i found in the faq?
thanks

Youve got your answer right there in the diagram.
Just pull all the fuses out and replace them with the correct amp ratings in the correct positions.
Once the correctly rated fuses are in the right postions,if some still blow out, then you have a fault/short in the accessory that particular fuse powers.

The hanes manual is based off a Series 1 teardown. Mazda switched fuseboxes on the Series 2/3 cars. All 81-up cars should have the same fusebox as you. Look at chapter 13 in the manual. It has most of the differneces with the later model years...
