How ya gonna put a 13B water pump housing on a 12A... Aside from weight, is there any other improvement?

Provided you're upgrading your water pump anyway, you might as well just drop a bit more and get rx7heaven's (or something like that, do a search) electric setup. It saves weight (like 7 lbs) and it won't cavitate at high rpm's.

It fits with minor modification. Mine's not done but others have done it already. Usually you relocate the alt to the air pump position, another favorable weight shift!
Stock assy= 14lbs
Alum+alum water pump=6 lbs, saving weight up high and that far forward will help handling.

What exactly is cavitation anyway? I know its bad, thats why you try and avoid it, but what is it? I assume from the word "cavity" that means hole, that maybe "cavitation" is the forming of holes in the water...a.k.a. bubbles? Im not sure though...Am I close?

yup, cavitation is bubbles, basically when a pump is churning water rather than moving it because it's spinning too fast.

Does 8 Lbs really make that much of a difference?

Any way to keep the alternator in it's existing location or move the air pump and keep it? (Emissions legality)

In racing.....ABSOLUTELY! street? prolly not.

I belive you could retain the stock alt location, just takes more work. With the 2nd gen pump and housing, you lose the bolt location for the alt adjusting strap mount. SO if you can come up with a way to mount the strap, then youd be good to go!
