What's this Craziness with the left side being lower?

my car leans on the driver's side as much as an inch. i know my front springs are probably saggy (i have coilovers, but not installed yet on the front), and on the rear i just installed the ground control/eibach deadwound springs....without cutting the springs.

i've heard of our cars leaning on the driver's side, but come on....an inch? something must be wrong with my driver's front spring, no? are our cars really that out of whack? all my suspension components and stuff appear to be in great shape. can't wait to install the fronts. im probably going to cut a coil or two off the 5 or so deadwound coils on the rear. i've got 15" +7 offset on the rear now, with 195/50/15 tires, and with the ground control/eibach rear springs uncut, there is still a good 2 inches gap.

so what's up

Well, where should I begin. First off, you are not alone. About everyone I have ever throwed a tape measure on is about 1 inch lower on the left front corner. A few things contribute to this. One, most of the weight in the front is on that side. Especially when you are in the car. Two, these cas are old, and the springs will sag. Take in account one and two over 20 plus years and there you go. Replace the springs.

spring rates

The left and right springs are not the same. The left is slightly longer and slightly higher spring rate. Is it possible they were swapped from left to right at some point?
You cvould try swapping the springs to see if it levels the car out.

Wecycle, I have heard this about the oem springs, but do any of the aftermarket spring makers take this into account? My guess is not.

coilovers

Seems like the simple solution is to install the coilovers you have and set the ride height level with the adjustable spring seats. You should probably do this with bags of sand in the drivers seat to equal the regular drivers weight.

If I could buy coilovers for the same price as the discounted Eibach's I have, they would be on there.
