what will the2004 RX7 look like?
I have always loved the 3rd gen and I dont mind the new RX8 but I would like to know via a drawing or maybe you photo-shop guys can come up with what the 4th gen Rx7 could have looked like.
I know the 3rd gen stayed alive in Japan but I want to know if you were asked to design the 4th gen, what would it look like? Oh ya have it be a single turbo.

There's actually been talk of a 4th gen Rx-7 in the next few years. Apparently it would be based on the Rx-8 platform and would use a "big block" 15b twin-rotor turbo engine.

15B eh? Interesting, lol. Is the RX-8 a 13B? I havent read much on it. I personally am indecisive if I like it yet or not. Plus, with slow dial up, I dont have the patience to sit and wait for pages to load about something I dont even know if I like yet or not, lol. I have some messed up logic at times, lol.

it's number designation is the "16B" it's a 2 rotor. It's called the Renesis...
They did a lot of tweaking to the chassis design and to the placement of the motor, tranny, and drivetrain to balance the car and make it very stable. The motor is damn near on the ground, and the tranny is just as low.

the renesis is not at 16b.......... that would imply that it is close to 1.6 litre, where as the renesis is just a tweaked 13b.
The major difference between the motor themselves verses a conventional 13b, is the renesis has it's exhaust ports on the side housings rather than the peripheral style.
The new RX-7 is supposed to recieve a higher displacement engine, and anything is just rumor at this point. I've heard everything from a 14c, to a tripple rotor renesis.

Mazda keeps insisting that the Rx-8 is not a replacement for the Rx-7. That the Rx-8 is not a sports car. And that they WILL make a new sports car based on the Rx-8 platform for the american market. a.k.a. a new Rx-7

there is one thing that has to happen before they bring the rx-7 back however. and that is that the rx-8 has to sell!!! if they dont get the numbers that they are looking for ford is gonna close the door on rotaries once again. i dont think that the rx-8 will have problems selling so hopefully we will see the new rx-7 in a year or 2.

about as close as you'll get to the truth for now.

the next rx-7 is ugly here ill post a pic
its rumored to be out in 2006.

is a 13b 1.3 liters
or is it 2.6?

X605,
While some of the info in SCC is pretty good, it's still all speculation. On the pic of the new RX convertible, you'll be happy to know that that is not the new RX-7... just an artist rendering based on the new RX-8.
The new RX-7 will be a top notch performer, "if" and when it makes a debut. Don't expect too see anything official until the 2005 Tokyo Auto Show.

It's extremely unlikely the new RX7 will have a turbo. The wau emissions laws are going these days it's just too difficult to do.
The engine will almost certainly be a 2 rotor engine something along the lines of a 15B. The designation is a guess, but the capacity is an educated guess based on past trends. That being that when increasing the capacity from the 12A to the 13B they simply widened the rotors by 10mm. It's likely they'll just do that again adding another 10mm to the rotors. This comes in closer to 1.5 litres than 1.6 hence the 15x.
It will be based on the RX8 platform, but obviously be a 2 door that will hopefully have pop-up lights.
I remember reading something from the head rotary engineer at mazda which is where this info is from. It is just his ideas though, so of course it's not set in concrete.

for those of you that were wondering about the Rx8?
looky at the picture I shot.. This was of the blue Rx-8 at RevItUp. That definately says 13b, regardless of them calling it a "Renesis" or not, it's still a 13b
