What are these?!

I'm starting to freak out because I don't know and remember what these are for. They are on my 79, and are on the firewall furthest to the left.

So I don't need them at all if I'm not going to be running air conditioning?

What about the black hose? They are below the 2 bronze fittings

Can't tell for sure from the pic, but it's most likely the external drain for water that collects on the ac core inside the ductwork.

Id agree with trochoid, but I am going to need to see that hose from a further away angle to be 100% on that

The bottom hose comes from the interior. Like Trochoid said, it is for the ac drain.Bascily it gets so cold it sweats, so this is the drain off. The bottom fitting goes to the evapator such as 85Transam said (has a hard line that goes up to the front over the car. Top fitting goes around to the driver side and hooks to the ac compressor.

You will be fine. If it bothers you to leave them open, just plug them off.

its not gonna hurt anything to leave them open. as stated above, if it makes you feel better, you can cap them. best of luck finding a cap. you may have to fab one up youself

The top larger one can be caped with a rubber cap purchased from Advance Auto Parts less than $2. I am quite curtain you can get one to cap the bottom one as well. Cant recall what I used being its been a long while. The bottomr drain can be left open pulled into the cabin and then get a firewall plug.
