What size -an lines for fuel?
Hi!
Going to replace the fuel lines with braided hoses and new fittings.
So many sizes out there. What is normally used?
I was looking at -6an, but not sure if that's too small. Is that equivalent to 3/8"?

The AN (Army-Navy) standard was established many years ago by the US military to set a common measurement for hose and fittings. It designates the outside diameter (O.D.) of the ridged metal tube that is compatible with each size of fitting. Still today, this AN dash standard is the benchmark measurement for military, industrial and the performance hose applications. These dash sizes are
expressed as the numerator of the fraction, with the denominator always
being 16. For example, a -04 port is 4/16 or 1/4-inch.
Metric..............AN-......US Hose ID
Size Hose ID...............Inches

What pump are you running? What size injectors?
I am running 8AN line from the tank an Aeromotive A1000 through a stainless filter. The the 8AN steps down to 6AN and runs in stainless line from the pump to another filter and then up into the rails.
Hope this helps.

Right now i'm running a Carter pump, no injectors it's carburated. I will be upgrading, but not sure to what. I will be using an Aeromotive boost reference fpr that has 3/8" ports.
Yes that does help, thanks. I will be using -6an to keep it all simple.

-6AN would provide plenty of fuel for up to probably 500hp, mabey more. I'm using -6AN fittings on my fuel cell, but standard 3/8" line throughout the car, keeping things a little cheaper. Unless your using the car for regular track use or some major horsepower, AN lines aren't needed and personally, they are a waste of money.

I ran new 3/8" aluminum lines, supply and return in the widebody for less than 30 bucks. That included a 25' roll of tubing, all new fuel hose and clamps. That's less money than the AN fittings would cost, let alone the line.

I replaced the hard lines from the pump to the engine compartment with 3/8" aluminum line. I also replaced the hard lines that run into the tank...doesn't make any sense not to, since the system will only flow as much as the most restrictive line will allow. All the soft lines (from the tank to the pump and all lines in the engine compartment) are -6 AN stainless steel braided lines with reusable aluminum swivel fittings.
