j/k but really these guys think if its under 300 ci its crap. i've already introduced some muscleheads and ricers (mostly hondas slammed to the ground with big fart cans on the back) to my little 1.1L demon

How bout being told by a client that called in to order parts anyway he was telling me that he was going to do an "in frame overhaul" on his sons RX-7 and I told him that you cant do an "in frame overhaul" on an RX7 ,and he tells me that you can do an "in frame overhaul" on an RX7 , so I changed the agurment on him I told him to send me photos of him doing this "in frame overhaul" and I will send him all the parts he will need to replace to do this motor reduild @ no charge.

I am still wating for the dude to send me photos that was like 2 years ago.

Jesus... its not like the rotary is even that new of a concept. You'd think that after thirty four years people would finally have a grasp of the difference between piston engines and rotaries. Hell, in the mid 70s rotaries were everywhere, you could get one from the hardware store by the dozen.

Some people are so ignorant. I've been asked what I have for an engine. I say its a 1.1L rotary. They are like "Ohhhh, Ok. I know what that is". Then they say "Must get GREAT gas mileage with that small engine". Or they say "Rotaries are ****. That thing won't last a week". Most people in fact don't know even the basics of a rotary. A lot of people think because its so small, it makes almost no power. This is in fact not the case. It makes more HP/L than a lot of todays engines.

rotories get that easy to blow up reputation because of fd's pumping up the boost with no extra cooling, it really is sad, my rotary is more reliable than my boinger and has almost twice the miles on it

I had to explain to my dad tonight why it's not "vital" to rebuild your car every 50K miles and then he starts on his apex seal paraphenalia again so I then explain to him that it's actually kinda hard to blow a seal. this guy they know that threatened to call the cops on me who I now hate told him all the "myths" of rotaries and now I get pissed off every time I see that motherf........well you know what I mean. So now everytime I flood the engine or have a stuck needle valve I hear the maybe your apex seal.

Edit: I was also once told to take my car to crane cams. It's in Daytona. Man I laughed so hard and asked the guy what size cam was put in. EVER heard your car is a 4 cyl cause it has 4 spark plugs.

Size of cam? Well, personally, I like a Nice Big Cam. Right now I'm using an Iskenderian cam from a 1937 Buick straight eight. It's a little long for the engine compartment so I had to run a hole thru the radiator and mill a new camshaft bearing mount, but it works swell.

Recently while at Mazdas RevItUp.. I was tuning into this dorks conversation.. he said, "the RX-8 would be better if the bottom half were to be changed out............"
I HAD to walk away ... this was right next to an RX-8 inside the MAZDASPEED tent.

WTF? Right NEXT to it, and... OMG!

Would have been even funnier if they had a cut-away of the engine sitting next to him. hehe...
