What is needed to do a 12a/13b conversion, and the cost compared to a v8, or rebuild?
I know this question must be asked allot so feel free to link other threads because I had a hard time finding any helpful ones. Anyway 'Ive been debating with myself what route to go, a piston engine (probably a v8), a rebuild or my 12a, or a 13b. but I think i feel best about the 13b. it will require much less work than a v8 swap, and put out more than a rebuilt 12a. But I'm wondering what will be needed to do this conversion? Oil pan, engine bay mods, fuel lines, etc. I want to keep it fuel injected because I want it turbocharged. So what kind of price am I looking at, for a 13b that is turboed, and the conversions that it would require? Harder/more expensive or easier/cheaper than doing a v8 or 12a rebuild?
Forgot to mention its an rx7 first gen 1985 gsl... Im tired![Lol](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/lol.gif)
also forgot to mention that im willing to port the 12A when I rebuild and if it will compare to a turbo?

A rebuilt 12A, with a blow through turbo, will put out a lot more than an NA 13B and potentially cost less. That's my opinion. I also think V8 conversions should be avoided because they never get finished. The rare ones do, and then most get sold. Keep the rotary, man.

if I'm using the 12a It needs to be rebuilt which means I can port it while I have it pulled out, will I run into any issues if I have it ported and run a blow through? or just keep it with the blow through?

There's a ton of info on what other people have done for their blow through systems.
You'll definitely need the turbo, carb hat, and rising rate pressure regulator, blow off valve, probably a better exhaust to name a few.
Also you'll need a carb that is setup for a blow through system, meaning sealed up and jetted and what not. Keeping the AFR in the propper range is very important for a good running turbo setup, meaning you'll have to tune it using a good AFR guage and sensor.
Also I'd think about good tires, maybe bigger, maybe wider fenders, improved brakes and suspension. and when you get there maybe a seat, steering wheel better belts, and either flashy yellow paint or a racing stripe!![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
go for it, I wish i could do that here

$500-$1000 for a rebuild on either engine... or $300 for the small block $200 for the transmission, and depending on how much of a fabricator you are lots of welding and metal working.
REBUILD IT.
Also, there is the question of loseing your soul..........
Want to stay FI? REally? on a small block? Turbo Small block???
Small blocks are REDNECK!!! Eton supercharger, Holly four barrel with an MSD ignition.
EDIT: If you want something cool get a diesil engine. Like a little four banging diesil from Nissan or something.
