What are my options to fix this?

Last night I was at a friends house and had been there for over an hour when I heard my car alarm go off, so i go out side to see whats happening and my car is gone. I look around for the flashing lights and spot the car down the driveway backed into a Ford 250 pick up. Apparently my hand brake failed which is strange because both cables were new in November 05, the car proceded to roll until it was stopped which was prolly 60 feet down a hill by a pick up.

The pick up was just bought that day by the neighbor and is a brand new 06 Ford 250, as weird as this sounds I was lucky the pick up was there to stop me because if not the car would have kept going down the hill it would have picked up lots of speed and fell off a 15-20 foot embankment where there is a foundation for a new house being laid with rebar and cement blocks to stop it after a 20 foot free fall off a cliff which would definetly total the car.

Anyways what are my options to fix my car?
would a body shop fix this or would I have to find the body panel off another car to put on.
Also what is a estiment in money to fix this?

It looks as if it would be easier to cut the section off another car and weld it in.

a body shop could definatly fix that. they would use a stud gun to pull the panel out and re-shape it in a day. my father owns a body shop, thats an easy fix it may run you some cash depending on where you take it and how much they are going to fade the paint up when they paint. that will determine how much paint and materials you will need.

That sucks man. Looks liek an easy fix though like dave mentioned

But why didn't you have it in gear as well? never trust an e-brake alone to hold your vehicle on a hill.

Talked with geico and they won't give me any money to fix it because my insurance I guess doesn't cover wrecking 2 cars while not driving either, so I am going to be footing the entire cost to fix it which is really disapointing because the only real reason I liked the car was it was completly straight 20 plus year old car now its a pile like every other twenty year old car on the road.

I had been driving the car really hard prior to parking it so when I got to my friends house I let it idle for a min. (kinda like a turbo timer except no turbo lol) so it would cool down, and I just left it in nuetral and jumped out. I usually always put the car in reverse everytime I park it but this time I screwed up. Ohh well I'm going to get some estiments and maybe if the estiments are high I might just find another car which is straight and mix parts.

laf, yeah the insurance companys **** you over for not having a car made in the last five years. I've been screwed over twice just cause my car is from the 80's when dealing with insurance companys I pay good ******* money every month and then I need the insurance and they aren't there for me, sounds like they are commiting insurance fraud on me.

i did a similar thing. I didnt pull the hand brake very well and forgot to put it in gear. I go out side and find my car parked on my neighbors garden mound. I thought someone parked put it there as a joke but i looked and the car had rolled. Had the front wheel not caught the car would have rolled straight into the neighbors donwstair room!

I'm guessing you didn't have theft or vandalism on your car? If you had that kind of coverage it could take care of that...can you say "parking lot damage". I had issues with that and a bike I had. Progressive wasn't going to cover some jerk backing into my 1 month old Ducati 748 and knocking it over in a parking lot. I complained and said it was obviously vandalism so they HAD to cover it. Anyways, if you have vandalism i'd say call again and report it again if they didn't take anything down before...maybe it actually happened in a parking lot...and someone hit your car while it was parked? Not to promote insurance fraud or anything...but still. Something else to consider though, is reporting that worth the amount it's gonna make your insurance go up, because it will. Being a body man myself, it looks like an easy repair compared to some of the major body work i've done...just a quick dent pull, minimal bondo blend the paint...bingo bango...done and done. Try and find a body shop guy who does stuff on the side, i'd bet he'd at least repair the damage without painting it on the cheap, then you could just pay a body shop to paint it?

The hand brake is the best thing on these cars... mine has failed twice and left my car up someones front yard, fix the prob by parking on a flat bit of ground and leave it in gear, oh and don't let your step sister back it out the driveway cos that will cost you, that dent aint worth pulling out- fill it up and sand it back

Hey contact Don(Nosferatu) on the boards at nosferatu595@yahoo.com and ask him to check out your pics. He is a rotary mechanic and is also a insurance damage appraiser. Good luck,Gary

Haha you should see it now, I had to drive it last night so I duct taped a amber lense over the missing one, but it was raining really hard so I had to use a lot of tape.
