what motor?

Personally I think a turbo or blown V6 gives the best all around perfromance.... Good low end torque w/o being limited to 5-6k rpm, and fairly good gas milage.... but if the 12a is running I'd say keep it original

my motor do's run but i need a carb kit. and i was told by my dad that a v8 or a v6 will make my car vary fast. and my 12a only have like 60 000 kms left i think and i was told that v6s and v8s are easy to work on. o and i was told that my motor use alot more gas than other motors?

My suggestion is to get the car fixed and running properly, which includes all mechanicals with emphasis on brakes, suspension and driveability. When you have that done, then look into doing the usual exhaust and intake mods on the 12A. If, after the car is in tiptop mechanical shape, it is not what you want for performance, then look into doing an engine swap.
Changing engines because the carb needs work is like bulldozing the house because the front door doesn't shut tight.
Asking the forum to make decisions for you, like 'what color should I paint my car', along with your picture has left you wide open for criticism. You need to reach inside your shorts and feel around, there are 2 round things in there, start using them and make some decisions for yourself. The forum will help guide you, but we are not here to hold your hand for you, or decide what is best in life for you.

Yes a good V6 or V8 will make the car much faster, I would say a V6 will probably get better gass milage than a 12A, a V8 about the same...... somethings are much easier, others are harder..... 12a emissions and stuff is a PITA, but mechanically a rotary is much simpler than any V6 or V8 could ever hope to be.

emissions arent a concern for him, he's Ontarian.
keep with the rotary openshot, the engine weighs HALF as much as any piston motor you're gonna find cheap, and you will garner more respect for finessing horsepower out of a rotary than a V8.
i forget who's car this is, and im sorry if this is a mega-repost or im violating copyright, but its too ****** cool.

V6s and V8s are not really that easier to work on (overall more parts, more things to go wrong). Their parts are more plentiful making them easier to find. A V6 or V8 would easier to repair after over heating, usually not requiring a complete rebuild(maybe a new radiator and head gasket, etc depending on the damage).
A well tuned 12A will have close to if not better gas economy, than both a V6 or V8, especially on the highway. I average about 17-20 mpg/ city and 20-25mpg on the highway with a 12A that has over 227,000 miles on it. Keep in mind that speed and extra power don't mix to well with good gas economy. What are you looking for as far as performance, economy, etc?

thats what you call rotary power. keep your rotary engine you want more power buid the eingine put a nice street port get your fuels system upgraded and working properly and add a turbo. check out roberts 12a turbo he is running 720rwhp. www.rotaryshack.com

Buy a carb kit if thats what you need and learn to rebuild carbs. You may have less problems with a new V6/8 than you would with any 20+ year old engine but there is alot more to it than just dropping in an engine (diff drive train, beefier suspension, etc) I'd wager that if you pull your engine to swap with a piston engine you wont see it run again. Besides think of the satifaction you will get once you can get your current motor running!

My S/C V6 Grand Prix gets about 34mpg on the freeway..... true I have about 100k less miles than you, but it's a 4spd auto, and wieghs nearly 3700lbs.... I have no doubt hooked up to a good 5 speed and dropped into an rx7 it would get closer to 40mpg on the freeway.... the only time I've averaged 25mpg was going 80-90 on a 200 mile trip.

When you drive any car regardless of the engine type, with hard take offs, late shifting, and don't drive at a steady consistent speed you will burn more gas. The extra mileage achieved on the highway can often be counter balanced when driving in the city. My comparision was based on older V6s and older V8s that are not new or recent(within 10 years). I own a Cougar XR-7, with a V8 5.0L H.O., and an Explorer, with 4.0L V6, each with under 130,000 miles and they both suck on gas. Though, the Cougar actually is better on gas eventhough it has a V8.
True, older V6 & V8 get worse gas milage, but IMO the whole point of an engine swap it for a newer, better, stronger engine..... not a 10 year old 100k+ engine...
and your right in mostly city driving I'm getting about 20mpg, I don't get the whole more power and speed thing though b/c 240hp / 280 ft lbs seems like more power, and since the rx7 is so light speed wouldn't be an issue, also since it would be hauling less weight the gas milage would improve.... Although if constantly pushed hard it probly would even out to about the same.... but with twice the hp at the wheels

thanks for the info on the top part but on the bottom part you have became a dick. so for my pic i dont feel like making somthing cool and it is a pic who cares. and the reson i ask about the colour so i dont make a mistake so my car will look nice and if the colour made the car look dumb people would make fun of it and it will not look right. so anothing thing i dont like shorts i have pants on not shorts. o and i am only 15 i ask dumb stuff. i asked my teacher how much is this how much is that like of tools and i have alot going on in my life. like i have to get money for parts for my car and i need a job still and i have to get money so i can play paintball get money for another gun and i need some upgrades for my gun and money for paintballs when i play. than i have to go to school and learn stuff with dumb ***'s in the class. o and about you saying that we are not here to hold your hand i ask stuff because you know alot more then i do. so i would not put here is how to fill in a hole that rust did my dad can show me that. so if you are just going post mean stuff here than gust kill your self. like there was this kid in my school and he had no friends and every one was throwing stuff and him i want over to him and became his friend and he told me on day he was going to kill him self befor high school so i told a teacher. if it wasent for me he would be dead right now. it is people like you that make other people feel bad about tham self. people like you should say nice things like coments give tham some ideas or offer to help. o and one more thing people like you that help the guy with something than if he does somthing not right you act mean and make him feel like ****.
ps: thanks for the suggestion.
pps: i posted this so i can learn what motors are beter.

Keep the rotary get it running. You are doign what i still tend to do dream out all these performance things to do to your car when you have next to money at all. Just focus on one task at a time. Get it running then fix anything that needs fixed, windshield wiper motor , lights etc whatever it is. Then move on to exhaust that is a mod def worth the money gives you great sound and lil more power. I hope this helps

Rx7s are designed around the rotary engine, just like your car was designed and tested with your V6 and 4 cylinder engines for the lesser models. I could go on and on, but I won't because none of us really no what openshot is looking for. Let see what he has to say. If he wants to switch engines for a power gain and to have a faster car than more power to him, just hope he realizes what he's getting himself into $$$$$.
Eriks85Rx7 i am going to start doing that keep one thing in mine i gust and so happy i have car and i am realy happy it is a rx7
and i call people ***** all the time. i got it off jackass. i love that show.
