What have you deleted from your engine bay?

What have you taken out due to the lack of necessity?
Now list what you've taken out and any mods you had to make to it for the car to run and work. (ie. plugging vacuum lines, blocking open ports off with plates, etc)

What benefits or set backs can come from this?

Any pictures would be appreciated.

(I'm making an entire list of what I will do whilst my motor is out of my car during my swap.)

i removed the rats nest, my air conditioning, and the air pump. I'm also about to pull my motor and at that time ill also probally go with a e-fan instead of the clutch fan.

to make it work with no rats nest you basically just have to plug some vacuum lines. For the A/C i dont think you really have to do anything, and for the e-fan you just have to setup a thermostat switch.

I would take out my power steering but it wasnt equipped on my car anyway.

heres a picture from when almost everything was out. So much room!

In a couple weeks ill be attempting a TII swap. Wish me luck!

It looks like you've taken out most of the JUNK on the left side of the engine bay.

When you pulled the AC did you pull everything under the dash allowing you to pull the lines going through the firewall?

And I'm not touching the rats nest on my 13b.

I deleted my rotary engine. Replaced with Sr20det... benefits include no worry start up, more power (stock for stock) and greater MPG... with more power.

Down sides... getting it done... but if you are thinking going 13bT it's about the same time and money.

Oh I'm swapping stock for stock. Just a bad motor is coming out. Now...... the bad motor coming out will be rebuilt as a 13bt. I want to learn how to rebuild a rotary and I figure while I'm doing it I may as well upgrade it what with the new seals and gaskets and the like it will better hold the tolerances of the TII.

Well I see you pulled the charcoal can, a bunch of steel lines, and so on. Just looks like you ripped everything out.

Awesome.

Most things on the left(exhaust side) is actually pretty unnecessary.

Well on a 12a that is.

On the SE motor I'm trying to decide if I want to remove the subzero start stuff and the charcoal can. I don't need to worry about emissions so yea. I want to delete as much as possible. Without all of the AC lines, hoses and the compressor the bay will look quite empty. Also with the air pump gone that side will be pretty bare which will be a nice change. Simple is good.

Some times its not so much what you remove, but what you add!

I removed everything. There is a thread in the Archives titled "finally some pics" that shows the details, along with how I went about cleaning the engine bay. I've removed some more stuff since then though. I figure that if it isn't there, then it can't cause any problems later. And since this is my AutoX car, the weight reduction (and there was plenty) was an added bonus.

Removed basically everything and I am starting from scratch.

A couple of things I haven't seen mentioned yet are the popup headlight motors and linkages (to be replaced by flushmounts), and relocating the battery (optima deep cycled mounted in the bin).
