What do yall think

Ok so here is another question for yall. My brother wants to get a FB and wants to do the TII swap, but he wants to add a litlle mix to it. Specifically this: A Garrett GT35R turbo and supporting mods. He wants to break 500 torque to the wheels (Is that possible), so what do yall think, any input and advice would be helpful?

+1 that would be a very expensive project. He should do his homework before such an undertaking.

He knows the drivetrain would have to swapped out for a stronger one, and that this is gonna be one expensive project and that is one reason why i posted this

Well if he knows it will be a difficult and expensive build, he is all set to go.

Maybe 500 HP, not 500 ft/lbs Torque.

You would need to be bushing over 700whp to get 500 ft.lbs of torque
on a 13B.

Wow.... you forgot in 2 WHOLE days?

Honestly we should make a new section for threads like this... we can call it "Newbie Dreams" or "Repetitive Redundant Non-Sense Section".

While you bro is at it.. tell him to put one of these on http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PERFO...#ht_7878wt_939

Vtech will kick in instantly!

I forgot at the moment, because i have much more important things going on right now. And just so ya now he decided to go for 500 hp to the wheels, either way its not impossible to get to 500 ft of torque so i dont know why you call it a "newbie dream." Ive got plenty of time to reach whatever goal i want

he probably called it a newbie dream because, as it has been pointed out to you/your brother, you're not going to get that on a 35R.

^ im gonna admit i dont know much about turbos cause I dont deal with em, but if thats true then were just gonna need a bigger turbo, which is probably what we will end up doing anyway. Remeber all the things stated above are not set in stone, thats the reason why i posted this, so that i can get some advice on what to do and what not to do

What not to do - get online and ask questions about obtaining power levels well above common or necessary without knowing the first thing you need to do.

What to do - use the search function. Start saving a lot of money, and scheduling a lot of time off.

Goals like this are those which answers will not easily come for - period. Too many variables and budget variances. You need to know what you're getting into so well you can teach US how to do it, not the other way around.

I don't mean this to be insulting AT ALL, but have you ever driven anything with near that HP? Have you driven an RX-7 with near that HP? The power to weight ratio of the chassis makes for some great fun with a LOT less HP than your goal. Do you only want that number for bragging rights, or is this a dedicated track only drag car where road manners matter none? If that's the case, why a HP goal? Why not a bracket time goal? I daily drive an STi swapped WRX with a touch over 300 whp and its plenty fast for me and outruns most things I come across or have a desire to - it weighs 1300 LBS more than my FB... Just food for thought.

You're getting flamed because you've got 126 posts and you're wasting space on the server asking questions that have been answered a million times over. Not just that you're tossing around silly rice-boy terms just because you read on some webpage that a GT35R is a "sweet turbo" or something. You're also asking questions for "your brother".... is he not capable of typing? It just sounds like a bunch of wasted space and thoughts. There are plenty of people that have put GT35R's on T2's, search the 2nd gen forum a bit.

Here's the deal.... I deal with jokers like you all day long that spit out stupid HP or TQ numbers and think that they're going to magically get there by dropping a turbo on there car and running 2 bars of boost..... voila!

That's not the way it works. I tune cars for a living, mostly Mustangs and other Fords, but some GM and Dodge as well. I know what it takes to make a 500 whp mustang.... and it's a lot less than a rotary, and making the power isn't the hard part. It's all the supporting mods needed to handle the power. Tranny, clutch, differential, fuel sytem, brakes, suspension... the list goes on and on. You want 500hp on a simple 3v 4.6 Mustang.... be ready to drop about $8-10K.... on a 2v you can add about $2-3k to that. For a rotary you can expect to spend at least that.... hell I'm $7k into a 12a blowthrough build and I'm using mostly used parts.

I've built and driven 900 plus HP GT500's, and these cars start with nearly 500 whp. Let me tell you, they are no fun to drive on the street, it is nothing more than a precise exercise in throttle control.

I've said this more times than I can count.... knowledge is not free. You either educate yourself by reading all the info you can get, or pay someone else that has the knowledge. Don't just come on here and ask random rice-boy questions that have been covered a million times before.

Girlfriends Dad has a Terminator Cobra with a boost pulley, intake, exhaust, and a tune. I believe its somewhere in the high 400 HP range? Sound right? All I know is its just a joke to drive on the street. Traction control cant even keep it in check. You are spot on with the exercise in throttle control statement. Its a lot like my FB in the snow. Its a ton of fun, until you actually want to go somewhere without spinning tire

So my post count defines what i know? Wow just cause i dont post much doesn't mean i don't know anything, if that were true then id be safe to say that since a Doctor never really talks about his operations, then he doesn't know how to do it. And why should my bro waste time creating an account for one question? First off whatever i dont know about cars my family does (Uncle had fastest drag car in PR for a long time it was said to have had somewhere in between 1500 and 2000 hp, he did a 1/4 mile in 6.5ish seconds). And I know it wont happen magically, if you're just gonna talk crap then you might as well not say anything at least until after I have tried and failed/succeeded, to T.J. i plan on it being a drag car.

That's about right on a stock blower.... last Terminator I tuned was twin Precission 80mm turbos and a sheet metal intake manifold..... put 893 to the wheels on C16, just shy of 30 pounds of boost. Now that car was insane to drive.

Well you saying that also costs money, so if you really want to make your point don't say anything, unless its of some actual importance, like advice instead of just flaming on me for wanting to do something.
