what do i need for a s5 swap?

ok, so im buying the engine this summer n peicing it all together in my garage. (the warentee says in may not come with all the sensors n ****.) i am getting an intercooler setup and eveything else i need besides a boost controler and a stand alone fuel system. so i was wondering to swap that engine in my 85 gsl am i going to need to get custom motor mounts or what. and where can i find a conversion kit so i dont have to switch out the dash in my car.

There is no kit,our cars are old.
The dashboard has nothing to do with the engine swap.
You need to do some research and digging before you attempt this swap. Not because its neccesarily difficult, but because I recommend it, based on your questions.

I run a full S5 TII setup which is CA mog legal and around 300 reliable HP.Been running it and answering questions about it for nearly 5 years. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask.For general TII swap questions, search the forum as this is about the most asked question here.Theres tons and tons of info and redundant posts regarding the S5 swap....

ok, so talked to some people and apparently i need a gsl-se front cover and then it "should" bolt up. i suppose im going to need a lot of self fabrication peices. now when im putting the engine in a guy i was talking to said something about the transmission not being able to hook up right so i'll need to do something. my question is why and how?

um so yah basically i am super grateful anyone replied back cause i know how u guys get with the redundant questions. so real quick question ok? the engine im buying comes with 30-50k on it, should i rebuild the engine and port it before i drop it in? im not going to drive it too hard cause im going to get to know the engine but what do u think i should do, stay with the stock 200 crank or go rebuild n port n get around 250 to the wheels?

im sure with proper tuning you get get mre than 200 hp w/o porting. the best time to port is when the block NEEDS to be rebuilt, just me opinion. 30-50k to me doesnt seem like all that much i mean **** i got that on my 04 sentra right now! you should be fine with that kinda milege.

yah but its a jdm engine with miles already on it so im not sure if it needs to be rebuilt or not. im lookin at if i swap it in and drive around n then find that i need a rebuild it will have been a huge inconveniace instead of me rebuilding it on a hunch.

If you rebuild, then sure, do some porting.A rebuild can be pricey,so dont assume you need one just because the engine has miles. Many J-specs are beat, but not all of them

Porting isnt necessary for 250HP,TII engines have healthy ports from the factory, about 3/4 of a standard steetport.A little cleanup is really all you need, especially if your gonna keep the factory EFI.

With the questions you have asked so far, reading between the lines to get an idea of your knowledge of the TIIs, I suggest you spend some time in the 2nd gen section and learn which mods are needed before even uping the boost, let alone rebuild and porting. The TIIs can easily pop a seal with minor mods, if they are done incorrectly.

You seem to be asking the right questions, have fun with the install.
