What is the difference between leading and trailing coils and how do I tell? How do you test a coil? thanks

I read your email
On a 1st Gen there is absolutely no difference between the leading and trailing coil. They are the same part. The trailing coil is the coil closest to the front of the car. I'm not sure how to test.

There is a way to test them using an ohmeter. The resistance between the posts ( -ve and +ve) are supposed to be a certain value. (sorry I don't have the manual with me). I'm thinking it was either 0.5ohms or 5ohms. <-- don't quote me on it though.
But a good thing to do is test both of them this way and see if they are the same value. If not you may have to test you're ignitors on the distributor.
