what did I do? DLIDFIS question
Ok, so I just got done hooking up my direct fire setup. THought I was good to go, I started it and it ran for a couple before I shut it down, Then I started it back up and it fired for a sec then stalled dead, now I can get it to turn over but not start. I only have the ignition setup, I dont have anything else like the tach wire hooked to it. Is there a wire that hooks up like the tach wire that kicks on the fuel pump that Im missing? Also, what color is the tach wire? I couldnt hunt it out before it started raining on me.

i dont know about flooding, Ive popped off the top of the air cleaner and hit the accelerator pumps, but only a little bit shot out the first time I tryed and nothing the second time. Its getting dark and my sight glass's are dirty as hell so I couldnt see into the floats to know for sure. I also figured out that the yellow green wire is the one that goes to the tach, I hooked that up and nothing out of that either, all my ignitors where good before I started this project, Im sure they still are.
Im going to try rewiring it tomorrow morning. Its all kinda a mess in there right now and they are thin gauged wires. It look kinda messy in there anyway, I premade the harness before I really knew where thing where going. So if I can just figure out the problems with the tach and fuel pump then I should be good to go after cleaning up the wiring.

ok, heres the run down.I redid the wiring, Ive got spark, but no gas, nothing in the floats. I did pull each plug wire and each sparked my test plug.
Now heres my questions. What does the condensor wire hook up to, what wire is the tach wire (that does not operate) and which wire activates the pump relay? Ive been running through the FSM and its a bit confused on wire colors and the alike. Can anyone help me out here?

Are you having problems with your fuel pump relay because your car is an '84-'85? I wish I could tell you what to do. I've never even touched a stock 1st gen igniton system, other than to change a bad ignitior once. It happend to be a trailing ignitor in an '84 that was intermitant. The carb almost ran itself out of gas a couple of times until I changed the ignitor.

I got it. seems that the wires are switched around coming out of the stock plugs for the ignitors. I had the trailing switched up going from the ignitor to the coil, and the tach wire is the yellow green wire. I had that right the whole time. I just couldnt get it going because of the wires. wow does this car rev good now. This is the strongest of two 7's that Ive owned. Thanks Jeff.
