What color is the silver for the interior? READ ME TO FIND OUT

Back story: I have repainted my stereo surround and shifter surround previously so I was not able to check side-by-side to see if the colors are the same. However, I did check the color of the interior trims of my 2010 Mazda 3 and from what memory serves the colors are pretty close. This is what I found using a Dupont paint scanner:

Car: Chrysler
Year: 1996
Code: MS4
Color: Bright Platinum effect

I am thinking this color may be a bit brighter than what was in the interiors of out 1st gens. However, the trim pieces may have faded a bit so who knows if the color we see now is the actual color that they once were.

You can use the above information for mixing with other types of paint (PPG, Sherwin Williams, etc). Usually all they need to know is year, code, and make.

Good luck and happy resto-ing!

Hold up. Looking at pics it appears that this color is considerably different than what I have listed as a possibility.

I will hopefully find/borrow a correct piece from someone local and scan it and see what I find and let you know.

This would be good to know, the color is very hard to match, partly as you point out because they fade from original to different degrees. But judging from looking at a half dozen surrounds in pretty good shape the color is more of a dull gold metallic, with maybe just a bit of silver in there.

It's pretty hard to describe but pretty easy to mess up with an inappropriate color - just about every one I've seen repainted doesn't do it for me. So when I put mine back in a week or two ago I decided to pick my best one and leave it original

Ray, what would you say is the FLATTEST piece of the trims in question? I was thinking most likely the shifter surround. I'll dig around and hopefully I can find one and find out the color and probably go ahead and mix a bit and test it out and see what happens. I get a discount so it doesnt hurt as bad as it normally would.

Side note - I also checked this older car audio amp I have that is a sweet blue color. The scanner said it was a special fleet color that didnt have a color code, year or anything but had the way to mix it and it matched almost perfectly. The blue color was INSANE EXPENSIVE at 96 bucks per PINT lol (luckily, I didnt pay that much but it was still expensive). That is not reduced but the other thing is you mix this stuff 2:1 so even reduced it is 1.5 pints lol. $$$

OK enough rambling. I will find a part and see what I can find out. Pretty sure 64 mgb has one I can scan...

The shifter surround or the ash tray have the flattest areas, but these areas are often the most worn and discolored. Probably the truest color can be found in that flat area around the clock and control *****, if that is enough for your scan. Also the finish seems to have some kind of texture or metallic look to it, I don't think it is a solid color.
