What color brake calipers on my car:

powdercoating doesnt do too well in high heat applications, such as brake components. the dics get up to (probly past the way i drive sometimes) 505 degrees f, according to Popular Science in 1978. so hi temp paint would be better suited i think, but hell i am no expert, and i have rusty calipers.

i'm also a firm believer of 'it's your car, do whatever you want!' so good luck on them calipers. go for the clear coated polished look... less rice, more nice.

Its kinda blatently obvious when you ahve these rusted things inside your bueatiful chrome wheels.
"I'm going for the whole crimson, red, and brown look, to offset teh chrome...."
What type of clearcoat do i need???
And what would be the best way to clean them off (If bead blasting isnt an option... Supposing it were, is it easy??)
Peace

Yeah, i called late (after their hours) on accident,
and talked with Mark Albertson himself about getting some rims for my car. NOt only did he do this, but he helped me in many other aspects of rotoring, and we decided that selling my car and getting a gsl-se was best for me.
I'm going to be doing as much business as possible through him!!!

Hi guys,
I read through the thread about the brake caplipers, and ran across you mentioning about OBBN. It's great to hear of more people liking us, and the business. It's also great to hear you like our service. We'll keep trying as hard as we can

What I can say is that.... I believe there is a semi-rotary shop (as I would call it, if you ever met them in person )amongst the old school rotary gurus. You guys might have heard of them through out the small and big lists. Some of them are: Brian Smith, Dale Clark, Steve Fooshee.
edit:
The ones who were talking about the brake calipers, how do you like them? I've been meaning to get some myself - Though, not sure if gold looks good, even though my car is gold

Sorry.
Marc has been in the hospital for about a month with serious back pains, and was in intensive care for the past month as well. Sorry for the delays in emails and everything.
Ya, I know how it feels to run out of money, I just saw this thread pop up on my subscribe threads, and I thought I would check up on it
manntis, it wouldn't let me edit that post, but where was the dale clark that ordered the stuff from you from?

Jjust looked at directfreaks "how to paint your calipers", I think they looked better black. The overall quality looks lacking, not to mention painting them w/o removing them first. I do think it is worth the money or the time.

Is your cars color an OEM color? What is it called?
On your calipers I wouldnt do anything besides black or silver,I think if you did anything else it would look to ricey,ALSO dont paint your mirrors same as your calipers paint them they same color as your car,It makes it look cleaner.I dont know why Mazda didnt do that at first BUT my car being black and my mirrors are black and seems normal to me.

my driveway high tech caliper painting method:
*unbolt caliper (don't let it hang by the brakehose)
*pull the brake rotor
*remove the brake pads from the caliper and use brake cleaner spray liberally on it. (i.e. squirt then brush, then squirt some more)
*use a fair size piece of cardboard and fit it around the caliper to minimize paint overspray.
*apply two or three coats of high heat paint for a base to your final color paint. (I used Krylon high heat black)
*apply your choice of color (I went with a dark metallic blue and let it dry between coats).
