That's a question for the ages.
Wheel bearing grease might be for too low RPM bearings, so I use a silicon grease, which is tenacious. But nothing is perfect.
This is your only chance to lube that bearing for the next 5-10 years.
Are you installing a new input shaft bearing and seal on the transmission?

I'm not installing a new input shaft bearing and seal on the tranny. Got the clutch and pp out. Looks like they might need to be replaced. I'll take some pics of them shortly to see what you guys think.
Wacky, please clarify. What spline section of the new disc? You talking about the clutch?

Your pressure plate looks highly worn. Get another. As for your flywheel, I'm sure it's also worn. The disc may yet be reusable. Measure the thickness. If it's below 7mm, it's your call. If it's 7.5mm, I'd reuse it. I've reused discs at 7.3mm before, on my own vehicle, but the flywheel and pressure plate were good.
That's the problem with puck style clutches. They wear the pressure plate and flywheel faster. At the very least you will need to have the flywheel resurfaced and a new pressure plate since it looks so worn that it probably can't be resurfaced. Infact the flywheel is probably so worn that it might not be resurfaceable due to the built in counterweight being reduced so much in weight that it would cause an imbalance. Then again equal amounts of material will be ground off all around... Either way it should be rebalanced before reuse. Or cut your losses and go light steel with a new rear counterweight that fits '76-'85 13Bs. Sorry if I added more confusion to this thread.

I'll look at the flywheel later on. I took off the clutch and took a break. I just ordered a clutch kit with next day air. Is it nessacary to resurface the flywheel?, I'm putting myself more in debt trying to get her back up on the road..lol. I also don't have the tools to get the flywheel off.

Ok, well if the flywheel last me a few years i'll be happy. I got the kit from Atkins rotary. It's the exedy oem clutch. Came with the disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing, so i'll have an extra pilot and throwout bearing for next time. Clutch kit gets in tomorrow but won't be able to start work till saturday. I'll try to have it resurfaced next time, or replace it.

small question, on my 1st gen. my car is jumpy? when i engage a different gear it wants to leap forward. could it be the clutch? or a mount problem? also i am a little bit tall for the car, as my legs feel cramped inside, so that could cause bad clutch control? whatever. anyway, its like the car surges forward and makes me feel like my driving is sloppy. note: if i do a hard launch it doesn't do this. but i just got a ticket for one of those. fudge ::Sad::

Clutch is in. One problem, pilot bearing is still in there. I've gone to multiple stores and nobody has a pilot bearing removal tool. I need one fast! Tomorrow morning at the latest. Any other methods? Any synthetic grease is good to lube the bearings then right, like a mobil 1 synthetic grease?
Sorry for all the questions, I need your guys help. Just want this done right.

I too will be changing my tranny. or at least overhauling it. i want to have a car that doesn't make tranny noises when i lift off the clutch in neutral. that's probably bad synchros or bearings right? im a noob.
