TX what is this

as i have no pics i will discribe.

looking at the engine cavity, there is a clack canister. it has a trottle cable coming from it and i dont know what it is.

looking to strip whatever i can before the carb gets put back in. also would like a thread post with pictures as to what i can remove emissions wise(yes yes i know).
im in dallas, tx and we have emissions but they dont check exhaust quailty or anything they just check to see if the car has a cat. and that it doesnt have any codes messed up(not that i need to worry about that)

please know i am not a noob but there are somethings i just dont know. i moved here from colorado and in the country there in co there arent any emissions to worry about.

thanks in advance.

The passenger side is the cruise control module, the one on the drivers strut tower is the hot start assist system. Basically it pumps the gas once or twice as your starting the vehicle. Both of these systems can be ditched very easily, but with the hsa you must remove/wire up the arm on the throttle linkage that the cable originally attached to.

it's the sub-zero tank. It sprays coolant into the tank when you atart it and it's below zero. It doesn't really do anything and can be removed.

That link I posted above will detail a great deal of what can be removed, and what can be relocated. Check it out if you haven't...

you need a haynes manual or to download the service manuals

and 2: texas emmissions testing is required for cars 2-24 years old. so your car will not be tested at all. they wont even check to see if it has a cat. i know this because my car does not have a cat and passed inspection

go to http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/Tutorial_1.pdf and this will detail the entire emissions removal process...leaving what you do and dont need.

if youre removing the a/c...then you dont need that white solenoid which is in this tutorial. it will tell you though what is what.

good luck!

okay now i have a big issue....... i havent started anything off yet all i did was putmy freshly rebuilt carb back on and it still wont stay running. it has a new fuel filter new furl pump, checked all spark and it still good.....(trust my burnt hand) when i touched the coil by accident when the wire wasloose too checkk. but it wonnt stay running.took the fuel inlet hose off the carb and its pumping fuel but i can put my finger ofver the hose and stop the fuel is that right?????
also if i pump the pedal 20 or 30 times(figured out in anger) it will pump enough fuel into the carb to start. any help would be great.

any guys or girls around dallas let me know i could use some help.

who rebuilt the carb? did you pull out all the jets and air bleeds and clean them? also, did you burnish the corners of the needles before you installed them?
