What is it?

I have a question concerning a electronic box of some sort. First of all the car use to be automatic so that might help it is an 85 GSL. The box is located next to the ECU on the ECU's mounting plate. What is it? It's black and has a 8-12 pin connector (that's off the top of my head can't remember the actual amount) If it isn't used for anything important then i want to toss it. before anyone asks why I want to toss it it is because i pulled the entire wiring harness out of the car and stripped the unnessecary wiring and parts from the car. I mean everything teh defrost, the cruise, etc. If it isn't a light or a gauge cluster part or an engine part it's gone. The book I have is terrible about locations of electrical objects in the vehicle. Thanks in advance!

Next to the ECU under the passenge footwell carpet? Hmmmm, can you get a pic? Does it look to have factory mazda connector(s)? I've also gutted the wiring on my 7 ~2years ago, but I don't remember anything next to the ECU.
