Went to the track yesturday!

I went to the local track here in Austin, Tx and ran my FB and FC
Fb, completly stock internals. no port or headers, just exhuast right now and i ran a 17.6 at 77mph. I don't think that is too bad for a motor with 145k on it. My Fc ran of course quite a bit better, but it still has 130k on the original motor. All that is done to it is RB headers to RB catback exhuast, and a Blitz intake system. It trapped
16.4 at 85mph and a reaction time of .79 which is pretty slow for me. Bad day i guess. Let me know what you guys think of these times and i will post the slips ASAP. Thanks

well chief, the Fb ran a pretty normal time. the FC on the other hand, is running a bit slow IMO. with all that work, it should be at least in the 15's. what is happening?

Did you got to SAR in Seguin, or TAD in Temple? Not bad, sounds like fun. I've been thinking about taking my FC and FB to the track, but I'm probably just going to wait until my project FB is done...I live in San Marcos and will be at SAR a LOT.

I must say that's horrible. that fb 1/4 mile speed should be 1/8 mile speed(77mph).

Why are everyone's 12a fb's so slow?
I can't figure it out, you guy's are power shifting right?
my damn near stocker 9.76 1/8 mile must be a world record, and that should theoreticly be a low to mid 15, possibly but not likely hiiiiiiigh 14.
It must be the driving.
Maybe my fb was special, it ran dead even(consistently) with a stock 89 stang gt until right at 80mph when the v-8 torque took over.
car was all stock, no a/c, no air pump, no spare tire, gs with lsd rear on 205/60's. it had a crappy exhaust from a muffler shop, large cat, small muffler w/single outlet.
idea's anyone?

I have to agree. That is slow. The FB should be running what the FC did. And the FC should be at least in the mid 15's. Your car can't be running right.

Yeah, when you're trapping that speed but only running that time it's either the driver or the tires

well my tires really do suck they are 165s but i just couldn't get the tires to hook up properly. That is also with running my fb and fc to the red line and power shifting so hard that on one run i didn't hook up until third gear. i don't even want to post that time. It sucked to say the least. well i will try again in about two weeks and let you guys know what happens maybe i need to retune my carb again. it was running lean for a while and i tuned it down but i will put it back to the settings i had it. as for the fc it is a convertable so it weighs a little more than a stock fc. thanks guys and ill will post those new times as soon as possible.

Since the traps speeds you're hitting seem around what they should be, your car is probably tuned good enough. I doubt you'll see much improvement until you get rid of those 165's and get some better tires on there. Just get some good tires, probably 205's, and work on that launch and you'll see a big improvement. When mine was N/A I was getting the best launches slipping the clutch at 4k-5k.

I think I'll be out there this Wednesday, barring any problems. If you ever need any FB parts, let me know...I have a LOT. I probably even have some rims/tires if you're interested in upgrading to something better than 165's!
