Chris aint that bad.
He's got solid motor mounts in his T2 swap, I can kindof see your concern, but I would doubt it would cause massive trauma to the front of the vehicle.
Have you ever heard of the engine of a rotary tearing itself loose from the engine bay?!

1 - it's not the front of your car that will suffer, it's the engine's front cover. there's nothing to absorb movement, and even worse, vibrations! it will crack ...

Geoff:
My Center Console was painted silver, it needs another coat. You can see the imperfections up close, but i like it cause it matches my cd player!
They are basically stock NGK wires in there, nuthin too fancy, yet
.
I got the Rotor Cap from Mazdatrix.com....42 bucks...american. Alot of people threaten me with it. For example: If you don't take this trash out right now I'll steal your rotary oil cap!
See, it's crazy!
Sorry about the bump, lol.

If the engine is held still, wont it just spin faster? I mean, isnt there always vibrations going through that part of the car? I figure that if you illiminate the play caused by the engine mounts the engine wouldn't want to pull itself loose, and instead, put the power to the rear wheels. And, since the rotary doesnt recciprocate, that there isnt anything to vibrate it loose.
Chris actually mentions that when you have solid motor mounts in your car, you cant notice that they are there. You can notice by the power increase, but the car doesnt vibrate a crapload. You cant just get in a car with motor mounts and go "Woah this car has solid motor mounts" You would have no idea, except for a little extra vibration than normal...but i wouldnt really notice because my stock ones are shot!

the engine won't spin FASTER because of mounts, only changes to a combustion event can do that. all you're doing with solid mounts is holding the engine in place. the advantage to doing this is that you'll get the power to the wheels a bit faster by preventing otherwise wasted motion by reducing it's natural tendency to twist. holding the engine down is just going to transfer "the twist" somewhere else, and for that reason, in my opinion, it makes little sense using solid mounts on your engine, and not trying to eliminate twist in other components of the driveline (tranny, rear suspension, body points, etc.)
rotaries are mechanical devices like any other motor (and i can't believe i just said that) - but my point is they vibrate! they just do it a hell of a lot less than reciprocating engine. think of it this way, an electic motor doesn't ONLY "hum" because of the current going through it. having solid mounts won't seem like a big deal at idle, or even in regular driving ... it's when you drop that clutch for a serious take-off that you're going to increase the chance of damage. every metal has a harmonic stress point, and by removing the rubber damping in the mount, the vibrations that would produce that stress point will not be absorbed.
i'm not saying not to reduce the engine movement, but like directfreak said earlier, for a street car, it's probably best to limit your methods to a torque brace and/or NEW stock mounts, or polyurethane mounts (if you can find them) ... just not solid metal mounts.
just my 2 cents

Actually, my friend has solid motor mounts on his TII swap...meaning Turbo II in an FB.
I'll see what he says, he's rather logical...
He may disprove all of your theories.
I on the other hand would just call you poopoo pants and run away.
Thanks for looking out for me! I think the next thing i should do to my car is swap out those rotars for some pistons! Has anyone done this before? Can the rotor housings house pistons?
