Weird noise in tranny. What is it?

my 1st fb had scratchy rattley noise in 4th gear... iirc it was a bearing. ran fine like that for 25000mi until i sold it. as far as i know it's still working fine. i just kind of accept that these old trannies are going to complain a bit.
