Question Weird Carb Problem

After getting off the freeway one day, I noticed the accleration in my 83 GS majorly sucked. The only way I can get it to accelerate normally is by jamming my foot down on the gas all the way, then it kicks in. I think its something wacky with the secondaries.. I took it partially apart, but I can't see anything really that looks bad. Do you think this could be fixed by replacing the secondary diaphram? Any other tests I can do?

Thanks!
Matt

And then snip the secondary diaphragm spring a little. Take about 1/3rd off and see how that feels. Your secondaries will open up sooner relative to engine speed and vacuum. Unless you've got a spare spring, take it easy on how much you cut off. You can cut off more, but you can't cut it on!

Gas mileage will go down, so try to find a comfort zone of power-to-fuel-mileage gains.

Actually, my secondary spring was taken out some time ago.. I liked the acceleration MUCH better. I even tried putting it back in, but didn't do anything.

Convert to mechanical secondaries!
