Website updated: pics of turbo, manifold and fuel system

http://mavweb.mnsu.edu/creare/

Sorry to start a new thread, but the old one had a wrong address.

added the Modified OBX manifold and turbo over the weekend. It fits perfectly.

I also added all the fuel fittings and mounted the fuel pump assembly, but I only had time to make the fuel cell lines, and nothing else.

check it out and let me know what you think.

Hey, it's looking GREAT!!! Nice and clean too!!

One small suggestion:

Don't place the FPR on the firewall, they will give you **** for it at the track. I relocated mine six inches forward on a homemade bracket, to please the
tech inspector.

Later, my clutch exploded, and damaged everything.
If my FPR would have been in it's original spot, there would have been a real possibility of a Fire too.

So, I am glad they made me change it!!

Mount the FPR on the Rail, or somewhere on the engine,
and you won't have any safety issues.

Other than that - Looking good! The Turbo is a nice size too. You should be pretty happy with it.

yeh, Ill probably mount it near the alt, all the bolts in that area should make fabing a mount easy.

I plan to change to a 60-1, but cost if prohibitive. I just want to get the car on the road. The small compressor probably will make initial tuning a easier.

Im happy with how the OBX fits also, total cost on it was about $300, 175 for it, 25 for a new flange and $100 for welding.

The welding seamed a bit spendy for the work, but the guy did a fantastic job. When I picked it up, he went over all the work with me, he said it was a difficult job, but he is sure it is sealed. He also welded the engine flange side, on the inside.

He also asked me what kind of bike it was going on.

I told him he was crazy.

I got about 10ft of 10an line, any ideas are appreciated.

also, this is the new TII cooler, next to my original 82 cooler.

THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE.

does it matter how oil flows through the cooler,
which line goes where???

The setup is looking great! Like DirectFreak was saying, very clean. I'm using the same fuel cell as you, and had the same problem (of course). I ended up cutting out the spare tire well, getting a 27inch(it think) diamter piece of galvanized sheet metal cut out and a sheet metal shop, and rivitted that in. Havent finished mounting the fuel cell though, but that shouldnt take long at all.

I wanted to cut out the well, but it looked l like the tank would be too close to the exhaust system.

I should be alright, Im making a skid plate just in case.

come on guys, I need some input on the oil cooler, It would fit pretty good where I have it in the picture, but Im worried about it heating the intercooler and costing HP

im also working on a water spray system.

As long as the Oil Cooler gets air, it will be fine. Your Volvo Intercooler is thin, and won't heat up the air behind it much.

I have my Oil cooler in the stock place on my SE, and it is inbetween my intercooler and my radiator.

Im not worried about the cooler getting enough air, Im worried about it heating the air that is going to the intercooler.

also, how do you run the lines, whick fitting on the cooler goes to whick fitting on the motor???

The oil cooler is also where the fuel cooler used to be, so now I have to figure out where to put that.

I was thinking of putting it in the HVAC vent behind the hood, but that brings back the Fuel stuff on the firewall problem. Im thinking of mounting it in front of the oil pan on the bottom or something like that.

Maybe you can mount the oil cooler horizontal or at an angle.

I had thought of putting it in a vent in the hood, but it proved too much work and money.

Im thinking Ill just mount it where it is, I can read Intake temps on the haltech. If its a problem, Ill redo it.
