Weber Intake Questions

ok this is a weber dcoe45, came with the old motor....I dont have any history on this setup, but the guy must have known what he was doing to a degree. List of Mods done to car before I got it:
1- Weber carb and intake
2- Headers
3- Rats Nest Removed
4- 2 Glass Packs in custom exhaust
5- Vacuum Advance Capped off
The Problem:
There is no ports for the coolant to enter the intake.....I am pretty sure this is gonna mess up the circulation of the coolant. I have looked at intakes for webers and holleys from several different venders and I cant see any provisions for coolant to flow. IS this really a problem? Or should I remove the intake and cut holes in it with some fittings to reroute the coolant through some large braded steel and rubber lines(see pic for crappy art concept of route)?

No, the cooling holes in the stock carb setup are to keep the carb from icing, accelerated warm-up, etc. There are no provisions in after market intakes for this. It will not affect the cooling of the engine. If you want to prevent these passages from leaking, install 20 mm freeze plugs, with some J-B Weld. Make sure the mating surfaces are spotless.

the intake that you have is the Lakecities manifold. When i bought my weber setup it came with the wrap around manifold. I switched over to the style that you have after doing a bit of research. Two things that you have to be aware/careful of is that if the person who owened the car before you didn't install some sort of heat shield under the manifold/carb, that at idle in the summer the carb id going to get extremely hot, and may start to boil the fuel out of the carb, make sure you add a heat sheild! Also i added the oil lines to the manifold so that i wouldn't have to go with premixing. make sure that either the oil lines are hooked up or else you premix.

I premix, and there is a heatshield there under the carb its a little hard to see buts its there. I suppose it woudl help if I actually washed the engine! Thanks for the input on the type of intake it is. I appreciate it.
