Weber "40DCOE18 & 12A

I have a 1985 RX-7 that is a daily driver. I was wandering if the Weber 40DCOE18 can be adapted to the 12A engine? If so what intake will i need? An does anyone have one for sell?

Hey 680, what the hell 12A do you have that makes 680rwhp???? Sounds like a tall tale to me, let's see a dyno graph

Concerning the 40DCOE, it's too small, don't even bother.

I believe 45DCOE is what most sell for a stockport 12A. Used 48IDA or Dellorto 48DHLA is better though. I don't know about 48DCOE.

And you can buy a whole used Dellorto kit with manifolds, heat shield, OMP lines, linkage, etc, in good shape for $300... I don't think I need to fill in the rest of what I think on that statement. Obviously I'm biased because that's the way I went

check out my dynosheet @ www.rotaryshack.com/dyno In my opinon Dellortos are junk!!!! You cant even get emulsion tubes for them, they have no adjustability , they stopped making them, parts are hard to find, thats why they are cheap!!!If you want the best performance get a weber....

You CAN use the 40dcoe you will just need two of them. TWM induction has a manifold for dual Weber side drafts. That would just be plain phat. You would get props from the Northwest crowd just for having them installed.

Good luck

That's a pretty impressive picture, I still don't believe it though lol... what are the specs?

Funny, I had no problem finding parts for mine, rebuilding it to perfect condition, tuning it perfect for my car, and it runs fantastic

You can probably tell just how much I think of your opinion

untill I see a vid that proves that was a 12A, I dont believe it. I could post a pic from a top fuel drag car dyno chart and say its my car ...

Doesn't the twm intake have injector bungs? In that case you'd have to get them plugged for a carb setup wouldn't you? Not that, that would be too terribly difficult.

I know gary at twm, hes a friend of mine, i bought his last dual intake manifold he had, he discontinued making them because he didnt sell enough of them...I would use a single 45 mm carb setup because the longer manifold will get you better throttle response and increased low end torque... something you need with a 12a street car....

as far as anybody that dosnt believe how much power my car made the phone number to the dyno place is on there... call them!!!!

No these manifolds are designed for carb use. The TWM throttle bodies are basicly carb knock-offs.

I see. For some reason I thought the 12a manifold I saw in their online catalogue had injector bungs. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong today.

that's what i'm saying, you're not crazy ... they sell parts for carbies and EFI. it's like moremazda said, "the TWM throttle bodies are basically carb knock-offs." the EFI throttles were designed from the carb manifolds ... but obviously, they'd need injector bungs.
