Water temp censor?

Anyone know if the water temp censor if different on the GSL-SE and the GSL (13B, 12A)

I have a 1981 GS but have changed the interior to a 84 GSL-SE and my readings are not right on the water temp and the oil preassure (installed an extra oil meter to be safe)

Ayn ideas???

They are different, if I remember correctly. The 12A's sensor is interchangable and has a long single male connection on the end of a brass fitting, but if you changed the interior, this would not affect the water temp sensor...Do you mean to say that the 81 GS that you have has a 13B or a 12A?

I'm running and old 74 13B in the car but the electrical sytem and interior is from 84.. It has the single connector..
But i dont have the right part of wiering to connect the alternator, oilpreassure and water temp.. these are different and don't fit togeather.. From my books I've found out the wires for the preassure and temp and used the old (81) wierngs..
But I guess I really need that part of wiering from the 84 car..
But then it might not fit the tempsencor.. right?? *s*

Boy this is complicated..

All you need is a wiring diagram for the 74 13B. The 84 is easy. There are just a few wires from the wiring harness that go over to that location. I'm not sure where you would obtain such a diagram, maybe from a REPU or Cosmo owner? I'll try and search for one.

I have a diagram for the Rx4 13B, no problem...
But the harness that is from 84 has more cables than the 81 harness that is on the engine now..

Do you have a partnumber for the tempcensor for the GSL-SE?

Well, naturally, the 84 will have more wiring, but that stuff is mainly for smog stuff. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Victoriabritish.com has a catalog you can get for free and they sell the sensor. It's only about $10. No worries.

ok.. it would cost more to get it here..

I actually have a VictoriaBritish cataloge.. to make it worse they have one from 79-81 and one for 82-92.. mine is from 83 so it sould work..

I think I need to find the right harenss (84) before I buy a new tempcensor...
I'll take a picture and maybe someone here can help me find one!

Check and see how many temp sensors your engine is supposed to have. I know in my 85 that there are 2 temp sensors, one in the rad and one in the block. Hope this helps.
