water line in the manifold

question?
i found a water line coming from the front of the engine to the manifold on my gslse, what is that for? if a eliminate it i gain hp or trouble.

It's part of the fast idle system. That coolant line and another 6" line to the rear of the block warm up the Thermo Wax, which will release the fast idle cam once the engine is warm.
Some people remove the coolant lines, thermo wax and the 2nd secondary throttle valves (part of the same system) to reduce complexity and slightly improve the flow through the throttle body, but as you live in New York I suspect you would appreciate the fast idle function more than the limited improvements you gain by removing it. I know I do.
