That is Andrew Hava's 1979 Pro-Rally RX-7. According to SCC he built the entire car himself, converting it from a salvage wreck to rally car in 6 weeks. Also according to SCC it weighs about 2,200 lbs and makes a very loud 250 hp from a PP 13B built by Havas himself. The power is sent to the rear wheels by a Saenz close-ration gearbox and a GSL-SE rear axle.

The article was about how SCCA is proposing a "20-year rule" which bans any car more than 20 years old because they don't want mad lunatics running around in patched up beaters... go figure

Oh BTW this was the Dec. 2001 issue of SCC. The cover has the G-Games Hardcore Handling test. I pulled it out to read about how the FD RX-7 rocked the handling games, and I remember reading about a BRIGHT ORANGE first gen =)

its a sweet car, I'm really diggin the teeth on the front there

2200lbs?? as a race car?? Thats as light as he could get it? it looks to me like he has flush mount headlights, plastic windows and windshield, and a whole lot of stuff to lighten her up, you'd think she'd be well under the 2000lb mark.
