actually they're the same. what makes it look short is the long glass hatch. the FD's hatch glass is smaller. i took measurements before i did all this.

LOL, Dude you totally misread what I was trying to say . The question was asked why doesn't he just buy an FD.

My point was like posted above. Anyone can buy one. Not everyone can build one. He doesn't want to be "like" a guy who goes and buys an expensive car and doesn't know how to change plugs. I'm saying there are alot of people out there like that and he don't want to be like that.

Nuther shameless bump for pics!!!

Because he doesn't want to be one of the guys who has an awesome car and don't even know how to change the sparkplugs. (Read: People who buy awesome cars cuz they have $$$ but pay someone else to do all the fix'n. Funny how you ask someone like that something about their car and they answer, "I don't know, let me ask my mechanic."
Truly Sad.

What the heck does changing spark plugs have to do with the price of fish? I just don't understand the point of building an FB to look just like an FD.

That being said, I do admire the effort and workmanship put into it and am looking forward to seeing some more detailed pics. Until then I'll reserve my full judgement.

Well...... if you take spark plugs and fire them off under water, the shock waves stun the fish and they are easier to catch and brings the prices down.....

My point was just that he is a guy who likes to do his own work, not pay someone to do it for him. And he likes to be creative and different. That is the point of building an FB to look like an FD.

And I agree, awesome work, can't wait to see it finished!!

I'm gonna have to try that next time I go fishing actually, I'll try it in a fish tank first, hehe.

It is not shameful to pay someone else to work on your car. If the quality of work is better or it is more cost-effective, it is logical to pay someone else. Not in this case, but other amateur attempts to repair and customise have ruined many cars.

You know, after reading your post, ^^ I had to think about that for a bit. I think you may be right.... to a point. Many people who are not mechanically inclined like to own nice cars, but do not know how to repair anything on it. That should not keep someone from owning a nice car. I do think that everyone (especialliy car nuts) should know the basics like checking/changing oil, checking fluids, tire pressure, periodic maintainance, etc. But I realise that in reality not everyone does, nor are they going to, learn these basic things.

So I guess in retrospect. I guess that my reasoning to 'why would he do all this work to make an FB look like an FD' is simply because he wanted to, and he can.
