Uninstalling an Alarm

Alright so my 85 GSL came with an alarm. A little remote beeper thing to arm it as well. Well someone tried to steal my car and jammed a screwdriver or something into the lock cylinder.

I had to replace my ignition cylinder, and the wiring harness (With a white circular plug) that plugs directly into it.

Well on the old harness that I took it, it has a lot of wires connected to it, and im guessing that these are for my alarm. I've checked in the engine bay for an alarm wire with a fuse in it, and the only wire going to my positive battery cable has the fuse removed from it already.

The clicker for the alarm stopped working and had my alarm left on armed so I took the speaker out, but my alarm is still going off silently and killing my battery.

I just dont understand what I need to do to uninstall it, do I just disconnect everything thats connected to my old ignition wiring harness?

Ill try and post some picturse after work

If it was me. I would take it to a shop and get them to fix it. Slap a new battery in the keyfob (remote). And then make a switch for the fuel pump.

Might as well get the alarm fixed since it's half way installed...

every alarm ive ever seen, cuts the "start" wire by the ignition switch, just rip all that crap out of there, and put that wire back together.

Yup... exactly what J9 said...

Find the brain, should be tucked under the dash usually under the steering column and follow every wire off of it and neatly disconnect everything one by one.

All alarms work on the same principle... When they installed the alarm they cut your ignition wire and placed a circut interupter btwn the two ends.... This is the only wire that you should have to reconnect back together... the rest should all be just simple removal. The ignition wire is going to be a thicker guage then the rest of the alarm wires you'll remove and real close to the key cylinder.

It's been super long since I removed mine but yellow is popping into my head for some odd reason as the color of the ignition wire... could be wrong though.

This is the ignition harness thats installed on the car now.

This is the old one that was in my car, which has stuff connected to it.

The thing is that the ignition that is installed in the car right now has none of the alarm stuff connected to it, and everything is connected to the old one. Which I conveniently stuffed in my speaker panel by my feet. I just didn't want to disconnect it without knowing what it was. but if the alarm is connected to the old harness then is it even doing anything?

Start at the brain of the alarm.... and work your way off of it one wire at a time this way you only disconnect *alarm stuff and not *car stuff by accident.

The only wire that needs to be reconnected is the ignition wire but if you changed the whole ignition out for another then void this statement.

Every other wire off of the alarm should just be tapped into something... no reconnections involved... just simple *NEAT* removale will do the trick.

I say neat b/c it's very easy to cut the wrong wire if you are not. Trust me.

I want to clean up my engine bay and got rid of a lot of wires but dont want to disconnect something when my motor is out that will prevent my car from running. Ill have to be careful and just follow them individually and see whats connected to what. I thought the red wire may be something but it doesnt even have the fuse in it.
