ON Unholy fuel filter modification 1979 SA

Alright, onto the next thing for this car. Seems someone mygyvered what I believe to be a frantz oil filter system in place of the stock fuel filter. I have been going through the PDF's to try and make sense of what I need to do to make it stock again, but the pictures aren't very clear.

Do I simply remove the hoses from the Frantz oil filter contraption and attach it to the normal fuel filter i purchased? Based on the picture, having trouble understanding where the fuel filter is supposed to be mounted

Here is what I found under the car.

The fuel filter is held by a semi-circle shaped wire clip that's attached to the threaded stud on the back of the sheet metal fuel pump holder. Looks like that clip is missing.

I've seen kits like that and have never been a fan. It's easily removed luckily.

Man thats an oily underside. Yeah the wire cradle that should hang off the rear bolt for the fuel mount plate looks like its missing. A want to buy add may turn one up. That oil is protecting the metal from rust but its also hiding issues. I'd steam clean that thing from underneath.

Well if anyone is willing to send/sell me this fuel filter mounting plate i would be interested. Having trouble finding the parts number in the parts catalog.

I'll look around locally, I'm based in Toronto Ontario if anyone is local and is willing to help out.

Also if anyone has a picture of what this piece looks like or how it is secured I could potentially fabricate a bracket from some spare metal I have lying around.

A p-clamp of the correct diameter might work.

In this pic the plate and fuel pump are gone, but that's the correct fuel filter and mounting "clip" thingy.

So is someone able to confirm, that all I have to do is unhook these two white tubes and plug in the fuel filter in between?

Make sure the new filter is supported somehow so its not flopping around.

Just curious, is that filter set-up made so you can use an oil filter as a fuel filter? Never saw this before.

Yes, just match line-from-tank to the -> arrow on your replacement filter, the 2nd obv then continues on to pump/carb.

I believe it is just the stock oil filter offered by Frantz hooked up as a fuel filter. There was second one installed on the car functioning as an actual oil filter in the engine bay which I also removed. Removal of that however was much more straight forward.

Alright, I have somewhat successfully removed the aftermarket fuel filter from the car and installed a standard one in its place. I drilled some holes and used a U-Bolt to secure it to the removable plate the fuel pump sits on.

However, I feel I now have a strange clicking noise coming from the engine. Not sure if is related to me changing the fuel filter or not, but I took a short video and would appreciate it if any of you took a moment to listen and tell me your thoughts.

I just can’t tell if the sound has always been there and I never noticed it and I’m getting more aware of the car as I work on it. Any insight would be appreciated!

please turn the phone sideways when making videos. and it needs light, can't see anything in that engine bay.

that ticking kinda sounds like the ignition firing. but not like it would sound if there was an arc jumping to ground. how's the wires and cap?
