what you need to do is find a free website to host them. Then when you post, you simply hit the "IMG" button and insert the web address and it will pull the picture from the website

It doesn't suck.

Now that I've finished my SE suspension swap its time to look for a new turbo motor project. You're still using the SE rear, right?

Looks great Cam!

I like the layout. Is that the same Wastegate?
I am curious too see how it works out on the creep issues.

The fuel rail looks great, except for the placement of the FPR. In case a belt breaks.

You definately have to get that monster on the dyno though, even if it's just for bragging rights!

I got my engine back together now. It has now been ported and dowel pinned as well. I got to break it in for 500 mile though.

Bern, I am curious as to your rear end upgrade as well.

Guys:
I'm contemplating an gathering parts for a Miata Torsen set-up. A few other guys (Dave Lane, John Schubert) who have done turbo-FB conversions are running this set-up, without any major problems. These rearends are also being run in some pretty stout SCCA E-Prod racers with very good success. The guys have also developed some stronger aftermarket axles with Moser Engineering for this set up. The caveat here is that none of us really drag race, but we do use our cars at either regular auto-x or open track events. And, if I'm not mistaken, all of our cars are under the 300hp mark.

If I were pushing over the 350hp mark, and regularly drag racing, I would definitely build an aluminum FORD rear-end.

I'm tinkering with a Miata IRS/rear subframe as well, though its slow going.

setzup, that's a nice setzup you got there. Gorgeous install!

Qucik clarification here....

I'm only doing the Miata torsen "dif" into the FB '84-'85 axle housing, no IRS for me.

Although I have investigated the whole Miata IRS thing and see that it does look possible, I just don't have the time to take on this BIG task at the moment. Best wishes on this deal Mantis! Please give us updates as you can.

Cam,
What radiator are you running? The unit in the pic looks quite stock (read small). I'm sure it's not much of a problem around town and at the strip, but do you have any issues with extended use? I'm not sure if you do open-track day events or not?

RotaryRevn- no problem. Yeah I'm pretty far away for that but I'm sure it would be fun.

Paulo-Rx7- I'm not sure I could hit 400rwhp with the stock ports but with a set of FC/FD sleeves it could be doable. Just shrink the pic's to under 100k and they will load, that's what I do.

Cody- Thanks, yup stock -se rear. I have to ask you though... WTF is that in your avatar??

Directfreak- Thanks Same wastegate.
Once I get to do some high load/rpm runs I'll post the results in the thread I have going in the single section.
I think a might make a little shield that would protect the FPR it in case of a belt brake.
Haha, maybe some day it will see a dyno. For the time being it doesn't really matter to me how much HP it has because it's already too much for the car.
Awsome! Did you put in a set of T2 sleeves??

Bern- Sounds like a interesting project.

Manntis- Thanks and your FB wasn't bad either It's a shame it had to go. It was one of the cleanest ones around.

Bern- It's a stock -se radiator and it works awsome. I've never seen 200 deg F. I have the fan turn on at 191 and off at 188. It hardly ever sees 195. I've never had it on a circut track but I'd imagine it would be just fine. I think riceracing used the stock radiator on his monster. Directfreak uses a stock ratiator and he does fine also. His is the thicker shorter one though.

Good idea, good solution.

I know what you mean, although after a weekend of watching 7 second sport compact race cars, and 10 second street cars (NHRA sport compact event in Moroso)- You want even more.

I put FD sleeves in, and the exhaust is ported too.

Nope - I use a stock series III (GSL-SE) radiator. My temp never exceeds 165 degrees - even in Miami.

Although I can't imagine running the car in a road course for too long without killing myself.

Wha! I though you had the shorter style rad?? Did you switch to the -se rad? Where is your oil cooler? Or is that why your intercooler sits so far forward, to clear the stock mount oil cooler? I know what you mean when you say " I can't imagine running the car in a road course for too long without killing myself." Never herd more true words

No, a (long) time ago you and I where chatting on AIM about it, and you had a dilemma for mounting your oil cooler. I suggested to you to runs the short radiator and mount your oil cooler directly inder it, to save space for your IC.

Stock SE Radiator, Stock SE oil cooler in Stock Locations.
I mounted mine up front, because I kept my A/C. Otherwise I would've mounted it like Mike's.

Me neither, but I guess if you keep the boost down, it might be fun to try a road course.

I remember the chat on AIM but for some reason I though you were running it that way also. Guess not

I think with a wide body, more tire and low boost it could be done but with what we have it would be impossible.

Be careful guys... Your cooling system would definitely be taxed after a few hard throttle laps on a road course... especially if it's warm out!!! Ask me how I know!

Shoot... no real need for a wide-body, boys... just a decent suspension set-up, and some R-compound tires, and your ready to go! Try it, you'll like it!

What exactly do you mean by 'road course'? If you're talking a race track (with corners!) then your power levels won't scare you. As said, some decent suspension and tyres is all you need. Although I don't have quite the power of you guys, plenty of others do at our local track days and they all have a ball!!

I have the same I/C as you Setzep and heat can be an issue with the rad being fairly well blocked. Not too bad though, unless it's a real hot day. I plan to fit a custom aluminium radiator to combat this problem, as it does get very hot down here.

I have stock -se brakes and they don't like slowing at high speeds so I'd want bigger rotors for the front. I have tokico illuminas and eibach springs with poly bushings at the front but I think the biggest thing I need right now is a set of good tires. I'm running on a set of touring 205-60-14's now and I know they are fighting my cars ability to corner. With the car set up as it is now you have to keep the wheel straight in 3rd gear or risk spinning out. It needs some work.
