Ultimate sa/fb

Ultimate sa/fb
I have had 4 first gens, 1 sa, 3 fb's. I have had stock to just below race so I have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn't. Right now I am fighting a battle with a re-occurence of a rare cancer. As a present to my self god willing I make it, I am thinking of restoring a buddys 78 SA to mostly stock but with just enough new of what the 7 could have been had a little more money been put into it. Proper suspension interior materials, rattle free, proper but useful power. Since I am not made of money, especially now, my wife and I both unemployed. This will be a long rebuild.
Anyway what is the best or ULTIMATE SA/FB you guys have ever seen or done that you thought the modification was perfect for the car. Pics if anyone has any.
Thanks

God speed a solid recovery and cure for you sir! our prayers are with you!
its hard for me to think of an ultimate RX-7. for me is an original low miles example that is in as close to showroom condition as it can be despite the age. there's something to be said for a clean original unmodified example. i dunno, maybe a 79 in mach green metallic with plaid interior. that would be an amazing build. or perhaps a clean original GSL-SE.

Jeez... I hate cancer. Lost many a relative to that nasty stuff. I wish you the absolute best of luck with the fight and the recovery.
I think you've got the right idea so far. Clean, rattle free, power that will surprise hondas and drift cars (haha...). For some reason I really admire black cars. I think the ultimate RX-7 may need to be black on black with GSL-SE suspension so it can run the cool GSL-SE wheels.
Dave!! Its funny to see you over here as well as the 944 forums. "16valver" isn't really a relevant name over here, haha. I guess I'll just continue to drool over your car collection from a different forum...

I have about 4 visions of the ultimate Gen I, but I guess the one relevant here is the 95% stock SA. I've spent years getting to 95% in my head and i'm working on obtaining that last 5%. I honest;y don't think i'll get there, but i'll try.

good luck with the cancer!
if i had infinite room (and budget), i want a spark yellow SA, stock.
then next to it i'd like a Ferarri yellow SA, stock black interior, except maybe recaros, panasports, it needs to sit right. the engine could be anything, but it might be neat to paint the irons yellow, maybe a weber...
i'd like to have a black/red GSL-SE, just stock.

I've had an S3 and S2 FB and of the interiors, the S2 black interior is just awesome. I love how forward thinking the S3 interior is, looks like you could put it in a 2014 car almost and it would still be relevant, but there's just something about that S2 black interior that just gets me.
I guess I'd love a completely built black on black on black hole S2 GSL with a 3 rotor that can barely be driven in a straight line, and then a tastefully modded streetable GSL-SE with low mileage and everything gone over and redone.
Cancer is a demon that haunts people and is pure evil. Dealt with breast cancer in the family and wouldn't wish any sort of cancer on my worst enemy. Good luck, thoughts and hopes go out to you and your loved ones.

Sounds to me, you are talking about a stock appearing car with some vigorus suspension and engine upgrades as well as a few ergonomic improvements sprinkled inside. Sounds like a very good recipe to me! I like Dave's idea of maybe wrapping it up to look like a fender mirrored Mach Green car. A Bull Frog version of the original poster Rx-7 with subtle fender flairs and meaty rubber.
Good luck with your current situation. Stay strong and determined.

Sorry to hear about the cancer...I too have had cancer In my family...so not cool....
My ultimate gen one would be something like above....stiff suspension, fenders stretched and rolled to "bury" the wheels, 15x7" rims front, 15x10" rims in back, large streetported s5 engine, rb exhaust, fd seats, oem styled wing, red interior accents and red interior lighting, black satin paint with blood red pinstripes.....

I am partial to the original color, it is the original copper with plaid interior so I might follow the theme just with modern seats. I never thought about the original green and white racer that's definitely one cool car.
Thank you for your well wishes, they mean a lot! I am in a tough one here so I really do not know. I actually have a scan today, HUGE! lets hope for the best.

I've saw the sonic bronze metallic color in person and it is a lot neater up close than I've ever saw captured in any photo. There is a minty 25K mile bronze car, complete with the red plaid interior on flee bay right now!

Hope you're OK.
I dig those early Campagnolo-style wheels.
I liked the Rotary Engineering dual Weber 36DCD / street port / RB dual presilencer exhaust setup. It was a good performance upgrade that was liveable as a daily driver (and looked very cool).

I think the ultimate fa/fb would be a car that addresses the future challenges.----->>the coming zombie apocalypse. Basic metal working skills, an oxy acetylene torch and stick welder are all that's required. Let your imagination run wild.
Or you can go the unimaginative garage queen proper classic car look.
With the rx-7 zombie fighter, everyone on the road will give you all kinds of room. The garage queen show room restored rx-7 gets no respect on the road.

^ assuming the roads are still useable..I'm imagining a **** ton of cars just sitting there blocking the way..not to mention the flood of zombies that would be attracted to the sexiness of the rotary exhaust sound

"Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust...." ,Isaiah 26:19
....does that mean born again christians are zombies?.
.....my car is a zombie rx-7 since it has came back from the dead many many times

I think a red 1979 with the stock waffles and a stock 12AT, GSLSE trans, with rear hatch louvers would light up the freeway and draw attention from almost any car niche out there.
Thats my dream car, maybe someday ill find that blasted 12at for mine :C
