Turn signals stopped working

Hey everyone, I have recently been working on a rebuild of a 1984 GSL SE for about a year. I haven't driven it for the last six months while it sat in the drive way under a tarp. I vised it quite frequently and turned it on every month or so. I insured it yesterday and went for a drive only to find out that my turn signals don't work anymore, they did last time i parked it. I checked the fuses and they all seem fine, does anyone know what could cause this and what i should do about it?
Any help is appreciated as my window doesn't work so i cant use hand signals.
Thanks,
Nathan

If I remember correctly, the turn signals are controlled by a black box (literally) under the dash. It is about 4"x3"x1" and is kind of a pain to get to. I had to replace mine several years ago. Pulled one out of a junk car.

This just happened to me on my 85. Check the bulbs, then the fuses. Its everything is good then right next to your clutch pedal there is a black box, called the blinker cpu. There is a 16 or 18 pin plug that goes to it. Turn on your blinkers and mess with the plug it may have came loose. You may hear a sound thats kinda like a fast bliker.... You can also test the wiring with a volt meter. If everything passes then odds are the blinker cpu went out (like mine) pull it out... Its only 2 10mm nuts that holdit on. 1 that is way up top and had to get to. Then one in about the middle. Pull them out and disconnect all the other relays and you can open the cpu nd check all the solders. If they are nasty and you know how to solder then you can resolder everything if you dont know how to slder like me then hopeyou have a junk yard close that has 1st gen or have a friend that has an extra... Put the new one in and BAM you have blinkers again!

the flacer cpu is located above and forward of the fuse box. they do tend to fail due to faulty solder joints. you ca resolder your current flasher cpu or purchase a known good one.

I took a look a few hours ago and fiddled around with the wiring and it worked again. If i have problems in the future ill probably rewire.
Thanks,
Nathan
