Turn signal and choke issues
I've had two separate issues with my car lately. It's a 1980 and lately the turn signal has not been working properly. Instead of blinking it will just stay solid, but if I thump the fuse box under the dash with the palm of my hand it will start blinking again. It's done this occasionally ever since I go the car in March, but it seems like lately it's been doing it every day when it's cold and stops doing it later in the day when it's warmed up, and when it does it now, it seems like it only starts blinking again for a few seconds and then goes solid again until I thump the fuse box again. I had thought that the turn signal relay was either loose or going out, but now I'm not too sure since it seems to be related to temperature. Any ideas? Was my initial thought right and I need to replace the relay?
The other issue I've been having lately is that when I've been running my car for a while and it's heated up pretty good, the choke has been getting stuck. It seems almost like I'm missing a piece, but I could be wrong on that. Where the cable goes to the carb it has the outer casing that ends with a threaded piece and a nut on it for adjusting it. The threaded part has been backing out of the bracket that it's connected to and then shifting enough that it won't just pop back through, so it pulls the cable tighter and when I start up my car it revs up between 2k and 3k and stays there until I get out and wiggle it back into place. Should there be another nut on the other side of the bracket to hold it in place or do I just need to lube the linkage so that it doesn't allow any slack?
